The Autobiography of a 'Jeep' is a 1943 propaganda film produced by the US Office of War Information. As its name might suggest, it is the story of parts of World War II told from the perspective of a Jeep.
The Jeep tells us he comes from a country with many roads and cars. He mentions pre-war plans for highways and cities that had to be scrapped because of the war, and the sacrifices the personalized Jeep is making for the war effort.
The Jeep then makes his first appearance before the servicemen, his experience in the desert and passing rivers and his nervousness in front of more experienced vehicles like the tank. Finally the Jeep proves his mettle and is put in general production, ridden by presidents and royalty. All this time he is accompanied by his friend, the American soldier.

With no better offers to be had, famous American Civil War upstart officer George Armstrong Custer takes over the Western Cavalry maintaining the peace in the Dakotas. He soon learns that the U.S. treaties are a sham, that Indian lands are being stolen and every excuse for driving them off their hunting grounds is being encouraged. With his wife Elizabeth (Mary Ure) Custer goes in and out of favor in Washington, while failing to keep wildcatting miners like his own deserting Sergeant Mulligan (Robert Ryan) from running off to prospect for gold in Indian country. After trying to humble the prideful Indian warrior Sitting Bull (Kieron Moore), Custer leads the 7th Cavalry into defeat.

The film begins on December 8, 1941 with the Japanese attacking the Philippines. Dave McVey Jr., the son of a rich American who lives and owns many business interests in the Philippines, is attempting to escape to safety when he is attacked by murderous bandits. He is rescued by Careo, a Filipino patriot who has put together a group of anti-Japanese Filipino guerrillas, though Dave has trouble differentiating between the two groups. Carero places Dave with an elderly Filpino and his granddaughter who teach Dave Tagalog as he waits for news.

The film opens with a title card outlining the story of Lidice. It then moves on to an image of the stream running through the village of Cwmgiedd (half a mile from Ystradgynlais in west Wales), and an eight-minute opening sequence interspersed with images and sounds of everyday life in a community in the Upper Swansea Valley; men are shown working at the colliery, women engaged in domestic tasks in their homes and the inhabitants singing in the Methodist chapel. Most of the dialogue in this section is spoken in Welsh, with no subtitles provided. The section closes with another title card stating "such is life at Cwmgiedd...and such too was life in Lidice until the coming of Fascism".
