Blum Affair (German: Affaire Blum) is an East German drama film directed by Erich Engel. It was released in 1948. A German Jewish industrialist is tried for murder. It is based on a real 1926 case in Magdeburg.

Synopsis

Une ville allemande de taille moyenne dans les années 1920. Un fabricant juif est accusé du meurtre de son comptable. Le juge d'instruction, nationaliste allemand, qui croit que le meurtrier est un juif, veut que Blum soit l'auteur du meurtre alors que l'assassin est un ancien membre d'un corps franc. Le président de la cour, social-démocrate, nomme un officier de la police criminelle qui invalide les preuves du juge.

The film documents the events that saw a French Captain, Alfred Dreyfus, sent to Devil's Island for espionage near the end of the nineteenth century. Colonel Georges Picquart (Richard Dreyfuss) is given the job of justifying Dreyfus' sentence. Instead, he discovers that Dreyfus (Kenneth Colley), a Jew, was merely a convenient scapegoat for the actions of the true culprit, a member of the French General staff. His attempt to right the wrong sees his military career ended and the famous French author, Émile Zola (Martin Friend), found guilty of libel.

Turkish Passport tells the story of diplomats posted to Turkish embassies and consulates in several European countries, who saved numerous Jews during the Second World War. Whether they pulled them out of Nazi concentration camps or took them off the trains that were taking them to the camps, the diplomats, in the end, ensured that the Jews who were Turkish citizens could return to Turkey and thus be saved. Based on the testimonies of witnesses who traveled to Istanbul to find safety, Turkish Passport also uses written historical documents and archive footage to tell this story of rescue and bring to light the events of the time. The diplomats saved not only the lives of Turkish Jews, but also rescued foreign Jews condemned to a certain death by giving them Turkish passports. In this dark period of history, their actions lit the candle of hope and allowed these people to travel to Turkey, where they found light. Through interviews conducted with surviving Jews who had boarded the trains traveling from France to Turkey, and talks with the diplomats and their families who saved their lives, the film demonstrates that "as long as good people are ready to act, evil cannot overcome".

En septembre 1894, le service de renseignement français prend connaissance d'un incident d'espionnage à Paris. Des secrets militaires auraient été transmis à l'attaché militaire allemand à Paris, Maximilian von Schwartzkoppen. « Dans l'intérêt de l'armée », dit-on, le ministre de la Guerre Auguste Mercier doit rapidement trouver un coupable. Le 15 octobre de la même année, Alfred Dreyfus, capitaine au sein de l'état-major, d'origine juive, né en Alsace, jusqu'alors totalement innocent, est arrêté sur la base d'éléments de preuve légèrement construits.
