Synopsis

This short film takes place in northern Burkina Faso, in a Mossi village. There, two old men patiently and skillfully make traditional wooden bowls for everyday use. Meanwhile, the young people leave the village to go to the city and abandon these tricky crafts.

Il n'y a pas d'histoire dans Ouagadougou, Ouaga deux roues mais un protagoniste: le "deux-roues" sous toutes ses formes. Le film le met en scène dans son quotidien le plus divers: la circulation, les embouteillages, les pannes, les accidents, ses multiples façons de l'utiliser. Le "deux-roues" ouagalais s'expose, se fait entendre à peine couvert par la musique d'Augé kaboré et finalement s'impose comme le maître des rues Ouagalaises.

Dans un village, Koudougou et Poko, un jeune couple, attendent la naissance de leur premier enfant. Malheureusement la grossesse ne se passe pas bien pour Poko. L'accoucheuse du village l'ausculte mais ne peut rien pour elle. Le conseil du village se réunit et il est décidé d'emmener Poko en ville pour la soigner. Koudougou et quelques villageois partent en emmenant Poko sur une charrette. Malheureusement le voyage est trop long pour la jeune femme qui décède en route. Effondré, Koudougou lui ferme les yeux, la charrette fait demi-tour et le groupe repart au village où chacun retourne à ses occupations. La vie continue.

The film is set in a small African village. Bila (Noufou Ouédraogo) is a ten-year-old boy who makes friends with an old woman called Sana (Fatimata Sanga), who has been accused of witchcraft by her village, and has become a social outcast. Only Bila is respectful of her, and calls her "Yaaba" (Grandmother). When Bila's cousin, Nopoko (Roukietou Barry), falls ill, a medicine man insists that Sana has stolen the girl's soul. Sana undergoes a long and grueling journey to find a medicine to save Nopoko's life. Sana manages to save Nopoko's life, but is still treated as a witch. After Sana dies, the real reason why she is hated in the village is uncovered, but her love and wisdom she invested in Bila and Nopoko lives on.
