The Ever Open Door is a 1920 British silent drama film directed by Fred Goodwins and starring Hayford Hobbs, Daphne Glenne and Margaret Hope. It was based on the play The Ever Open Door by George R. Sims, a leading Victorian writer of stage melodramas. It was one of a number of Sim's plays to be adapted for cinema during the Silent era.

1959, dans la Ruhr. John H. Claudius est l'héritier de l'aciérie Claudius et a vécu de nombreuses années aux États-Unis. Au cours des derniers jours de la guerre, son père est mort lors d'un bombardement. Cependant, John doute de l'histoire de la mort, croyant que son père a été assassiné. À son retour dans la Ruhr, sa mère Gertrud est mariée à son oncle Paul. La relation entre John et son beau-père est caractérisée par une méfiance mutuelle. Quand les amis de John, Mike R. Krantz et Stanley Goulden, viennent dans la ville avec leur compagnie de ballet, il veut utiliser leur aide pour prouver que l'oncle Paul est l'assassin de son père. Ils jouent un ballet dans lequel ils mettent en scène le meurtre du père de John. Mais John n'a aucune preuve du meurtre et est déclaré fou par Paul et Gertrud. Le Dr. von Pohl publie un rapport correspondant dans lequel John doit être amené dans une institution fermée. Mais John comprend ce que cache l'intrigue.

Thaneer Thaneer is a political drama and a universal human story based in a dry rural hamlet near Kovilpatti, in Tamil Nadu state of India. Joe Saunders and his brother Fred arrive in London from Leybourne in Kent, and they go to the Elephant and Castle pub, the haunt of Tom Sayers, a leading boxer. While his brother, an aspiring boxer, is having a trial bout with Sayers, Joe Saunders is persuaded to sing a song to entertain the bar's customers. Initially reluctant, he soon gathers his confidence, and his performance is extremely well received by the audience. The impressed landlord offers him a pound a week and two free beers a night if he will perform on a regular basis. Saunders’s brother, meanwhile, is too ill from his past career as a miner to make a serious boxer and he returns home to Leybourne.

As described in a film publication summary, James "Jim" Ralston (Barrymore) is a forger who is in love with Nina (Rankin). His first attempt at forgery is upon a dance program, and he forges Nina's name for the last waltz. He offers to save Nina's father from ruin by forging a check. He is discovered by the owner of the check, but instead of turning him in, Baron Hartfeld (Randolf) forces Jim to work for him for the next twenty years. Nina is engaged to Louis Percival (MacPherson), but through notes forged by Jim they become estranged. Nina ends up marrying James although she does not love him. As the twenty year period closes, Jim's daughter Louise is about to marry the son of an English banker that Jim is about to ruin. Just in time Percival, whom Jim has previously ruined, and Nina discover the forgery that separated them. Jim, realizing that he is trapped, ends it all by sinking a yacht after locking himself and his companions in the cabin.
