Synopsis
In ancient Egypt, two priests deposit an ornate box inside a temple, locking the doors behind them. After their departure, a thief breaks into the temple and steals the box, but he is caught by a mysteriously appearing bearded figure. The bearded man retrieves the box and gives life to the two sphinx statues placed at the doors. The sphinxes appear as living women and attack the thief, whose head turns immediately into a donkey's head. The sphinxes turn back into statues, the bearded man disappears, and the donkey-thief is left sitting astonished on the ground.Actors

The film opens with a large bat flying into a medieval castle. The bat circles the room, before suddenly changing into Mephistopheles, an incarnation of the Devil. Mephistopheles produces a cauldron and an assistant, who helps him conjure a woman from the cauldron.

Un homme dresse des poissons à sauter de son chapeau rempli d'eau jusqu'à un aquarium, puis en sort des lapins. L'aquarium enfin grandit, pour laisser apparaître au fond une sirène, qui finit par léviter. Dans un salon, un magicien fait apparaître une femme devant une étoffe. Il place ensuite deux étoffes sur deux fauteuils, fait asseoir la femme dans un, s'assied dans l'autre, puis change de place avec la femme de façon presque instantanée. Puis le magicien s'assied sur un tabouret, porte la femme qui alors disparaît. Il fait ensuite apparaître la femme sur une table, change ses vêtements puis la fait définitivement disparaître, alors que lui file dans les airs avant de repasser faire un rapide salut par un des côtés de la pièce.
