The Outcasts of Poker Flat is a 1952 American Western film directed by Joseph M. Newman starring Anne Baxter, Dale Robertson and Miriam Hopkins. The screenplay is based on a short story of the same name by Bret Harte. Harte's story has been brought to film at least five times, including in 1919 with Harry Carey and in 1937 with Preston Foster.
Synopsis
A murderous western outlaw (Mitchell), his wife (Baxter), a disgraced gambler (Robertson) and a faded dance hall floozie (Hopkins) and a few other socially undesirable characters are trapped in a snowbound mountain cabin. As the chances for rescue fade, the true natures of the cabin's occupants rise to the surface.Actors

Après avoir abattu un officier de la Cavalerie par légitime défense pour une histoire de femme, le chasseur Bat Masterson se rend dans la ville de Dodge City où il retrouve son frère Ed, devenu marshall. Pour l'aider à remonter ses finances, Bat devient joueur professionnel, s'associe avec elle et investit une forte somme d'argent. Le succès du Saloon cause des problèmes de jalousie puis, un soir, Ed est tué par Dave Rudabaugh, cousin de l'officier que Bat a jadis abattu. Lassés par la violence perpétrée par les hommes de Regan, les notables de la ville décident de nommer Bat au poste de shérif afin de faire régner la loi.

An embittered cavalry sergeant must take over his regiment after their commanding officer is killed during an ambush. Vinson is driven by his hatred of Apaches, who were responsible for the death of his wife and children. Cliff Mason, a veteran foreman of the Forest Service's smokejumper unit, is called out with a crew on a fire, despite the fact that they have not rested in three days. Accompanied by R. A. "Pop" Miller and four other men, Cliff leaves the smokejumper base at Missoula, Montana to parachute into a nearly inaccessible area of Bugle Peak. Hours later, at base, superintendent Richard "Dick" Dryer becomes worried because Cliff is not answering radio calls. The next day, after the fire crowns, Dick flies by helicopter into the area and is stunned to find only Cliff, in shock and wandering through the devastated region. Cliff is rushed to the hospital, where he gradually recovers, although he cannot remember how he got separated from his men, or why he was the only one to survive.
