The Poppy Girl's Husband is a 1919 American silent drama film directed by William S. Hart and Lambert Hillyer and written by Jules Boyle and C. Gardner Sullivan. The film stars William S. Hart, Juanita Hansen, Walter Long, Fred Starr, David Kirby and Georgie Stone. The film was released on March 16, 1919, by Paramount Pictures. A copy of the film is held in the Museum of Modern Art film archive.

Set in Caldwell, Kansas on the Kansas-Oklahoma border, the movie features cowboy Don Carver (Hart) as a "tumbleweed" (i.e., a drifter) who decides to settle down after falling in love with Molly Lassiter (Barbara Bedford). Carver decides to get in on the Cherokee Strip land rush but when he's arrested and parted from his new love, he's in danger of missing the big race. Lucien Littlefield plays a strong supporting role in the movie as Hart's comic sidekick and best friend.

Tough lumberjack Blue Blazes Rawden takes up residence at the hotel of the equally tough Englishman, Ladyfingers Hilgard. Because Blue Blazes beats him at cards and steals the heart of his woman, Babette Du Fresne, Hilgard challenges Blue Blazes to a gunfight and is killed. Hilgard's mother and brother Eric soon visit the hotel, and Blue Blazes, touched by Mrs. Hilgard's gentle nature, tells her Hilgard died honorably. Babette, angry at Blue Blazes' inattention, tells Eric the truth, and Eric, enraged, shoots and seriously wounds Blue Blazes. After saving Eric from a lynch mob, Blue Blazes makes him promise never to tell Mrs. Hilgard what he knows and leaves town a reformed man.

As described in a film magazine, "Level" Leigh (Hart), a notorious gambler, endeavors to keep his profession a secret from his sister Alice (Harris), who is an invalid. He plans to win a sufficient amount of money to give her proper care and restore her health. Coralie (Rubins), a Spanish dancer, is infatuated with Leigh, but when he returns little attention she has him "cold decked" and he looses all his money. The immediate need for a physician and his lack of funds lead Leigh to hold up a stage coach, but his little sister dies. When Leigh becomes wanted for the murder of a messenger, he gives himself up even though he did not commit the murder. The citizens are planning to lynch Leigh, but one man helps him to escape. While in hiding, he unearths the money from the stage coach. Leigh brings the real murderer of the messenger, "Black Jack" Hurley (Wallock), back to town where he gets his just deserts. Leigh is urged to remain in the town, and Rose Larkin (Breamer), daughter of the murdered messenger, promises to look after him.

La tenancière de saloon Ruby McGraw a refusé plusieurs fois d'épouser Yukon Ed malgré les demandes réitérées de ce dernier. Elle tombe amoureuse d'un personnage peu recommandable, Jack Sturgess, qui a séduit et abandonné une jeune fille dans l'Est avant de se réfugier en Alaska. Peu après leur mariage, Jack recommence à voir d'autres femmes et à boire. Un soir que Ruby le retrouve soûl dans la neige, elle attrape une pneumonie. Jack fait semblant d'aller chercher un médecin. Lorsqu'Ed la trouve très malade, il va lui-même chercher un docteur, mais ils arrivent trop tard. Ed retrouve Jack et l'envoie sur la "piste sombre".
