For his performance Paolo Villaggio won the Nastro d'Argento for best actor. The film also won the David di Donatello for best cinematography.
Synopsis
The general Sebastiano Procolo lives in a little village in the mountains boundless, in a small wooden house near a dense forest, called the "Old Woods". He is there on behalf of his nephew, owner of the reserve; however the general has the ambition to destroy all the trees in order to enrich. One night he discovers that the forest is inhabited by strange invisible creatures that whisper continually being released to resume again in the power of the ancient forest. Sebastiano initially don't understand the situation, but after as in a dream vision he realizes that these creatures have been imprisoned long ago by himself.Actors

"Once, long ago", the ancient Lord of Darkness (Tim Curry) laments his isolation in the shadows before sensing the presence of two unicorns who safeguard the Power of Light; where upon Darkness instructs Blix (Alice Playten) and his fellow goblins to kill the unicorns and bring him their horns to free himself. Meanwhile, Princess Lily (Mia Sara) goes alone to the forest to meet her friend Jack (Tom Cruise), a forest dweller who teaches her the languages of animals before showing her the unicorns. Against Jack's pleas, Lili approaches the stallion before the unicorn is hit by a poisoned dart from Blix's blowpipe. The unicorns bolt, and Lily makes light of Jack's fears and sets him a challenge by throwing her ring into a pond, declaring that she will marry whoever finds it, and Jack at once dives into the pond. As the stallion dies from the poison with the goblins taking his horn, the forest and the pond freeze, with Lily running off in terror before Jack can break free. Taking refuge in a frozen cottage, Lily overhears the goblins ordered to hunt down the mare.

After being raped by the soldiers of Queen Gedren, a despot who had her parents and brother murdered for scarring the queen's face while rejecting her sexual advances, Red Sonja is visited by a spirit who grants her the strength to seek revenge. Before dying, Varna tells Sonja of the events at her temple while urging her to find the Talisman and destroy it. After turning down Kalidor's offer to accompany her, seeing a storm in the distance, Sonya arrives to the now-ruined kingdom of Hablock. There she meets the young Prince Tarn and his servant Falkon, learning Gedren completely wiped out Hablock when Tarn refused to surrender. Tarn announces that he is raising a new army to crush Gedren and invites Sonja to work for him as a cook. She declines while told that Gedren is based in Berkubane, the Kingdom of Eternal Night.

The film begins on the ship bearing Alice (Coral Browne) and Lucy from England to New York. As an eight-year-old boy, Allen Bauer (David Kreps) is vacationing with his family near Cape Cod. While taking a sight-seeing tour on a small boat, he gazes into the ocean and sees something below the surface that fascinates him, while his older brother Freddie Bauer is walking around the boat fascinated by the women. Allen jumps into the water, even though he cannot swim. He grasps the hands of a girl who is inexplicably under the water with him and an instant connection forms between the two. Allen can now breathe under water as he is in the hands of a mermaid. However, Allen is pulled to the surface by the deck hands and the two are separated, though apparently no one else sees the girl. After the ferry moves off, Allen looks back at the girl, who dives underwater showing her mermaid's tail. Allen comes to believe the encounter was a near-death hallucination, but his bond with the mermaid proves so strong that his subsequent relationships with women fail as he seeks the connection he felt with the mermaid.
