It is the day that Antoine (Jean-Claude Brialy), a Paris advertising man, is to marry the lovely Gisèle (Marie Laforêt) and his best man Julien (Claude Rich), a divorced statistician, tries to talk him out of it with tales of the hard times he had from women, ending in entrapment by his stunning secretary Denise (Catherine Deneuve), a professional virgin. Going into a bistro for a quick drink before they drive to the wedding, the owner Fernand (Jean-Paul Belmondo), a retired villain and pimp, tells the two of his exploits that ended in marriage to pretty but pushy Sophie (Marie Dubois). Antoine decides to run for it, taking one of the tickets for the honeymoon in Greece and giving the other to Fernand. On board ship, he falls for the delectable Sandra (Françoise Dorléac), a professional confidence woman, who cleans him out of his money but in the end agrees to marry him. Fernand comes back with an old millionairess, former brothel owner, who drives a Rolls. At the wedding of Antoine and Sandra, Julien falls for a sweet brunette.![Nutty, Naughty Chateau](/imagesen/small/143091.jpg)

Claire (Jean Seberg), a young Englishwoman, lives in Paris with her staid husband, Georges (François Périer), a government archivist, and their two small children. One day, while attending a fashion show mounted by her friend Madeleine (Micheline Presle), a couturière, Claire meets a lighthearted young Frenchman, Antoine (Jean-Pierre Cassel). Despite the fact that he is being kept by Madeleine, Claire responds to his advances and returns with him to his luxurious bachelor apartment. Before long she is visiting him five afternoons a week; evenings and weekends are reserved for Georges and the children. Madeleine, strong-willed and possessive, learns of the affair and decides to meet the situation directly by inviting Claire and Georges, as well as Antoine, to the same party. The desired effect is achieved when it becomes apparent that Claire is tiring of Antoine and has no intention of seeing him again. Only Georges, quiet and gentle, understands that nothing has really changed. It will not be long before Claire will once more embark on her quest for chance lovers.![The Love Game](/imagesen/small/5124.jpg)

The film centers on the relationship of exotic dancer Angéla (Karina) and her lover Émile (Brialy). Angéla wants to have a child, but Émile isn't ready. Émile's best friend Alfred (Belmondo) also says he loves Angéla, and keeps up a gentle pursuit. Angéla and Émile have their arguments about the matter; at one point, as they have decided not to speak with each other, they pull books from the shelf and, pointing to the titles, continue their argument. Since Émile stubbornly refuses her request for a child, Angéla finally decides to accept Alfred's plea and sleeps with him. Since she shows she will do what she needs to have a child, she and Émile finally make up so that he might have a chance to become the father.
