It is the first starring role in a film for Sean Flynn, the son of Errol Flynn who played the title character in the 1935 film Captain Blood. The film was released in Great Britain in 1963 by Warner-Pathe (in some regions on a double bill with Hammer's The Scarlet Blade). Paramount Pictures released the film in the US in 1964 on a double bill with the Jerry Lewis film, "The Patsy".
Synopsis
Robert Blood, fils du grand capitaine Peter Blood, est impatient de partir en mer lorsque sa mère lui donne finalement son accord. Robert est assigné un bateau. À bord, il rencontre une belle jeune demoiselle nommée Abigail. En mer leur navire est attaqué par le pirate, Malagon et ils sont faits prisonniers. Malagon est un vieil ennemi du Capitaine Blood et se réjouit de maltraiter Robert. Avec l'aide de quelques anciens compagnons de bord du capitaine Blood, qui font maintenant partie de l'équipage de Malagon, Robert prend le contrôle du vaisseau de Malagon. Aujourd'hui, le capitaine d'un bateau pirate Robert et son équipage rencontrent un navire négrier et sauvent quelques-uns des serviteurs de Robert qui ont été pris pour être vendus comme esclaves. Robert et ses hommes retournent dans sa Jamaïque natale pour combattre les autorités corrompues. Alors que Robert et son équipage gagnent leur combat, un tremblement de terre et un raz-de-marée frappent l'île. Robert et ses hommes sauvent sa mère et d'autres pris au piège dans une église. Young Jim Hawkins (Cooper) and his mother run the Admiral Benbow, a tavern near Bristol, England. One dark and stormy night, during a birthday celebration, the mysterious Billy Bones (Lionel Barrymore) arrives and drunkenly talks about treasure. A family on their way to New Guinea is chased by pirates into a storm. The captain and crew abandon the ship leaving the family shipwrecked off an uninhabited island. Father (John Mills) and his two eldest sons Fritz and Ernst (Tommy Kirk and James MacArthur) salvage as much as they can from the wreck including livestock, tools, and even an organ. As they gather what can be removed from the ship, the pirates return and begin shooting at the ship. Fritz and Ernst begin readying the ship's cannon, but they only have one shot. Suddenly, the pirates turn around; Father has put up a flag indicating the ship is under quarantine and that there is Black Death aboard. The three men construct a tree house home on the island while the youngest boy Francis (Kevin Corcoran) investigates the wildlife and starts an impressive collection of animals including a young elephant, a capuchin monkey and two Great Danes rescued from the ship which they name Duke and Turk. Mother (Dorothy McGuire) prays to be rescued. The boys, particularly Ernst, also build inventions to provide modern amenities to the family such as drawing water and preserving food.
