Synopsis
The film begins with Bell's childhood in Scotland, where his is initially intrigued by sights and sounds. The film then follows his days as an inventor in Brantford, Ontario, Boston, Massachusetts, and Baddeck, Nova Scotia. It is 1924 and the height of Prohibition. During a stop on a bus trip, 10-year-old Sammy Ayers' mother Helen ventures into a bar, while Sammy sleeps on the bus. Helen is murdered as the bus leaves.
