Synopsis
Twelve-year-old Marco has an exclusive talent for drawing. Eighteen-year-old beautiful Lorella who was brought up by three street artists, becomes Marco’s art teacher. Marco falls in love with her. Not only he discovers art, but love and sexuality. Unfortunately Marco’s love is one sided. Lorella is in love with an art collector who despises watercolor. Marco collects every drawing he can get a hold of. His goal is to become the greatest watercolor collector of the world. He helps the poor street artists and they give him all their drawings. When Marco turns 30, he opens the boxes he kept in the attic. What he finds will change his life.Actors

Specialist Ray Elwood (Joaquin Phoenix) is a U.S. Army soldier stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, in 1989. Fanis Iakovides, professor of astronomy and astrophysics, recalls his childhood memories from growing up in Istanbul. When Fanis was 7 years old, his grandfather Vassilis was an owner of a general store with a specialty in spices. He was also a culinary philosopher and his mentor. Fanis grew very attached to his grandfather who would assist with his homework using imaginative techniques. For instance, Vassilis would teach his grandson the planets of the Solar System by showing an illustration of it and replacing the planets with spices. Cinnamon took the place of Venus since according to Vassilis, "like all women, cinnamon is both bitter and sweet". Fanis also fell in love for the first time in his grandfather store's upper floor with a young Turkish girl, Saime.
