Synopsis
Charles Duchemin (Louis de Funès) is the editor of an internationally known restaurant guide. After being appointed to the Académie française, Duchemin decides to retire as a restaurant critic and trains his son Gérard (Coluche) to continue the family business. However, Gérard Duchemin is more interested in his true passion—the circus—than high cuisine. Soon, however, Charles' plans to retire are complicated by the arrival of Jacques Tricatel (Julien Guiomar), the owner of a company of mass-produced food. Fearing for the future of high cuisine, Charles and his son strive to ruin Tricatel's company in any way they can. This movie is an allegory of the antagonism between USA culture and French culture as it was seen by French people in the 70s.Actors

Fils d'un héros de la police abattu par Pierrot le fou, Michel Clément (Coluche) est loin d'égaler son père Jules. Encouragé par sa mère (Marthe Villalonga) à suivre les traces paternelles, il obtient de justesse son diplôme d'inspecteur de police (par indulgence du jury) et se retrouve stagiaire à la PJPP (Police Judiciaire de la Préfecture de Police). Là, sa maladresse lui cause de nombreux problèmes, mais malgré cela, Michel rêve d'arrêter l'ennemi public n 1, l'impitoyable Roger Morzini (Gérard Depardieu). Celui-ci, trouvant son visage bien trop connu, subit une opération de chirurgie esthétique.

Julius Caesar is celebrating his victory over all of Gaul, but Lucius Detritus has kept from him that one village has managed to resist them. Detritus travels to the garrison near the village where Caius Bonus (Crismus Bonus), the garrison's commanding Centurion, explains that the Gauls have a magic potion, which makes them invincible. Detritus decides to capture the potion for himself, and hearing that the clever Asterix and permanently invincible Obelix are the backbone of the Gaulish forces, attempts and fails to eliminate them.

Lewis plays a washed-up German circus clown named Helmut Doork during the beginning of World War II and the Holocaust. Although he was once a famous performer who toured America and Europe with the Ringling Brothers, Doork is now past his prime and receives little respect. After Doork causes an accident during a show, the head clown convinces the circus owner to demote Doork. Upon returning home, Doork confides his problems in his wife Ada, and she encourages him to stand up for himself. Helmut overhears the circus owner agreeing to fire him after the head clown issues an ultimatum. Helmut is distraught. He is arrested later by the Gestapo for ranting about Germany and drunkenly mocking Adolf Hitler in a bar. Following an interrogation at the Gestapo headquarters, he is imprisoned in a Nazi camp for political prisoners. For the next three to four years, he remains there while hoping for a trial and a chance to plead his case.

Patsy, who has a strong penchant for alcohol, especially for a famous brand of champagne, and Eddie, obsessed with her curves and perpetually electrified by cocaine it soothes by countless different sleeping pills, have once been set May 68 but already on the barricades they were at a place that was not really theirs. Today, both reached fifty, rabid feminists continue to say no to anything, they say, degrades the weaker sex: cooking, living alongside a man raising a child. But feminism May 68 and the "seventies" is no longer for them a vague nostalgia that is lost in their nebulous mind. Eddie ended up getting married and became the mother of a beautiful girl Bachelor ... then divorced but still lives off her ex-husband under the same roof, the only client of his last living "public relations," being a perpetually Chantal Goya tour ass. Patsy, she preferred to remain single and independent but spent his life living muse to countless men hook succeeding one after the other over the years, and both, real "fashion victims", today totally dissolute life completely "crazy" resolutely eccentric, to the discouragement of the family of Eddie. The life of Eddie and Patsy is only champagne at any time of day or night, invaded atmosphere of tobacco smoke joints, cocaine, luxury toilets ... and parasitism by attending fashion stars and the show. Eddie would lead Safrane, his daughter, in the tornado of his "values" in light years of work and family life. But this is still a virgin at 17 and prepares the Polytechnic entrance exam. The husband, played by Yves Renier, no longer supports permanent pranks, alcoholism, grotesque and pathological irresponsibility of his ex-wife who also literally invades the house.
