It is a story about teenage love set up in 90's between Dagadu (Prathamesh Parab) and Prajakta (Ketaki Mategaonkar), also starring Bhalchandra Kadam and Vaibhav Mangle. It is directed by Ravi Jadhav who has provided prior hits like Balak-Palak, Balgandharva, Natarang.
The movie was the highest grosser of Marathi cinema until its box office record was broken by Ritesh Deshmukh's Lai Bhaari.
This film is being made into Telugu as "Andhrapori" by popular Director Raj madiraju with Puri jagannath son Akash and Ulka Gupta. Produced by Prasad Productions. Its sequel Timepass 2 was released on 1 May 2015.

The story takes place after 15 years with grown up Dagadu (Priyadarshan Jadhav) and Praju (Priya Bapat). Young Dagadu (Prathamesh Parab) is a successful music company owner. Who has settled up himself, fulfilling his and his father's dream. Dagadu's Friend Bal Bharati is a successful astrologist, Kombda is now a DJ working with Dagadu's music company and Malaria has become a politician. The movie begins with a scene in which Dagadu donates an ambulance for the people in his area, reflecting his caring attitude. After the event, Dagadu's sister suggests him to marry, showing him photos of some girls, as a result, dagdu hesitates as he is still searching the love of his life. He gets to know that Prajakta (Priya Bapat) is in Kudal, Konkan.

Gunvantrao Kagalkar aka 'Guna' (Atul Kulkarni), a poor village labourer, nurtures an obsession for Tamasha - a popular theatrical folk art form of Maharashtra. Unforeseen circumstances lead him to lose his job as labourer and lands him in situation where he sets up a theatre company along with his friend and mentor Pandba (Kishor Kadam). Guna is convinced that his troupe cannot take off unless it has a female dancer. After painstaking search, Pandoba finds Naina (Sonalee Kulkarni), the daughter of his former lover Yamunabai (Priya Berde), who is willing to dance for the company on the condition that it has a "Nachya", a "pansy" character, a man who acts in an effeminate manner. As no one is willing to take up the role, due to the eunuch taboo, Guna takes it upon himself to play the character. The strongly built Guna takes up the challenge of doing the role due to his passion for the art.

Jack Ellery (Oakie) is staging a lavish musical revue, starring Eric Lander (Brisson), Ann Ware (Carlisle), and Rita Ross (Michael), supported by a cast of a hundred background singers/dancers (almost all women, and many scantily clad) and two full orchestras. In the 1830s, in the small Danish town of Odense, cobbler Hans Christian Andersen spends his day spinning fairy tales for the village children, teaching them lessons about pride, humility, love and growing up through his fanciful characters. One day, the stern schoolmaster, who believes Hans is wasting his pupils' precious time, implores the Burgomaster and councilmen to curtail the cobbler's habit of distracting the students with his storytelling, but even the adult citizens easily become a rapt audience for Hans' fables. Hans finally agrees to stop distracting the children and returns to his shop, where his teenage assistant, the orphan Peter, begs him to stop causing trouble. However, later that day Hans is drawn back to the schoolhouse to see the children. As he hears the schoolchildren drone mathematical phrases, he compares an inchworm's myopic measuring of beautiful blossoms to the schoolmaster's blindness to beauty and creativity. On yet another day, when the children do not arrive at the sound of the school bell, the schoolmaster deduces that Hans is again distracting his pupils. When the schoolmaster then demands that the Burgomaster and the councilmen choose between him and the cobbler, they decide that Hans must leave Odense. Peter, who has witnessed the verdict, returns to the shop and secretly tries to save his friend from the shame of being exiled by eagerly suggesting Hans travel to Copenhagen. After much prodding, Peter succeeds in convincing Hans to leave that afternoon by reminding him that he will be the envy of the town for having been the first to visit the famous city. Soon after Hans begins his journey, Peter joins him on the trail, bringing all the shop's tools to start their business anew.
