Tru Love is a Canadian drama film, released in 2013. Written and directed by Shauna MacDonald and Kate Johnston, the film stars MacDonald as Tru, a commitment-phobic lesbian who is drawn into an emotionally intimate relationship with Alice (Kate Trotter), the mother of her friend Suzanne (Christine Horne).
The film premiered in October 2013 at the Raindance Film Festival, and has been screened at both LGBT and general interest film festivals in 2014. It won the Best Feature Film Audience Award and the Emerging Canadian Artist Award at the 2014 Inside Out Film and Video Festival.
The film was released in digital formats by Wolfe Video on October 7, 2014, and will be released on DVD on November 4.

Eric McNally (Tom Cavanagh) is a gay retired hockey player turned television sportscaster who lives with his partner Sam (Ben Shenkman), a sports lawyer. The film deals with the myriad complications arising from Venla's (Minna Haapkylä) desire to have a child. The film commences on a sunny summer day in Yorkshire when Tamsin (Emily Blunt) meets Mona (Natalie Press). The former travels on horseback and chances upon Mona, who is resting in the grass. The two girls come from completely opposing background; Tamsin is from an upper-middle-class family and has recently been suspended from boarding school for being a bad influence; drinking alcohol. Mona, on the other hand, comes from a dysfunctional family, and her brother, Phil (Paddy Considine), who has recently been released from prison, is the only remaining member of her family still alive. In a prologue, young Gilda Bessé (Charlize Theron), the daughter of a French aristocrat and an emotionally unstable American mother, reluctantly is told the life line on her palm doesn't extend past the age of 34 by a fortune teller. Later, they become lovers, but the two are separated when Gilda's mother dies and she opts to leave England. Several years later, Guy sees her as an extra in a Hollywood film, and shortly after he coincidentally receives a letter from her inviting him to visit her in Paris, where she's working as a photographer.
