Ukiyoe Cruel Story (浮世絵残酷物語, Ukiyoe Zankoku Monogatari) is a 1968 Japanese Pink film directed by the "Father of Pink", Tetsuji Takechi, and starring the current "Queen" of Pink, Noriko Tatsumi. Made after Takechi had won an obscenity trial over Black Snow (1965), the film has been called "Takechi's personal message to Eirin." Though still containing significant erotic content, this is one of Takechi's few films to pass the censor relatively un-edited, perhaps because Eirin feared losing another embarrassing public confrontation with the outspoken director. In October 2006 Ukiyo-e Cruel Story was shown as part of a Takechi retrospective, and it was released on DVD in Japan on January 25, 2008.
Synopsis
Sayo vient de fêter son seizième anniversaire lorsqu'elle assiste à la fête d'un temple. Sur le chemin du retour, elle aperçoit un grand cerisier qui est tristement célèbre pour la légende du cheval blanc mort. Lorsque son fiancé revient de la guerre et lui rend visite, il tombe sur un cheval blanc qu'il recueille. Réalisé après que Takechi eut gagné un procès pour obscénité à propos de Black Snow (1965), le film a été qualifié de "message personnel de Takechi à Eirin".Actors

The story is loosely based on a 1926 short story by Jun'ichirō Tanizaki, published in Chūōkōron in September 1926. The film opens as an artist and a young woman are in a dentist's waiting room. Though he is attracted to the woman, he says nothing to her. They are later in the same examining room. When the artist is given an anaesthetic, he begins to imagine a series of scenes in which the woman undergoes various forms of sexual abuse at the hand of the dentist, including rape and torture. When the artist recovers from the anaesthetic, he finds bite marks on the woman's breast, indicating that he may not have been hallucinating.

A wealthy real estate investor receives a film showing the rape and murder of his girlfriend. He hires a private detective, and shows him the film—which he criticizes for its poor cinematography—so that the detective can find the criminals and bring them to justice. The detective discovers that the woman is not dead, but doesn't inform his employer because the detective has romantic intentions towards her as well. His search leads him to a warehouse in the wastelands, filled with flies and sex dolls modeled on the woman. A gunshot is heard and the detective is engaged in target practice in the desert with the realtor. The realtor says he has a case he would like to be investigated, which returns the film to the first scene.
