Ultraman Cosmos 2: THE BLUE PLANET (ウルトラマンコスモス2 THE BLUE PLANET, Urutoraman Kosumosu Tsū: Za Burū Puranetto) is Cosmos's second theatrical film adaptation, Kaiju film and was released in Japan on August 3, 2002. It is a tokusatsu film in the Ultraman franchise, it is also a direct sequel to the original Ultraman Cosmos television series.

Synopsis

It has been a year Musashi retired from being a Team EYES member and now he has finally pursuiting his dream to become an astronaut. Musashi pilots his Planet 1 aka. TECCH Spinnar KS-1 and went on a journey to Planet Juran. However, much to his horror, the planet appeared to be a reddish and dusty wasteland. Not only that, Parastan, the Planet's protector died. Suddenly, a flying monster burst out from the ground and firing a reddish energy ball. As it about to ram Musashi's TECCH Spinnar KS-1, Ultraman Cosmos appeared and save him. As they dueled, Musashi founded that the monster is responsible for turning the Planet Juran into a barren wasteland via its energy beam. Cosmos destroyed the monster, causing a giant explosion and quickly rescuing Musashi from the explosion.

While EYES prepare to safely transport the world's monsters to a far off planet where they will no longer be troubled by humans, an army of giant alien robots, called Gloker Pawns appear to stop the project. Cosmos arrives in time to temporarily stop the attack when Ultraman Justice enters the battle aiding the alien invaders. Cosmos is defeated by Justice and the aliens destroy the spacecraft that were to be used as transports for the monsters. It becomes apparent that these aliens don't want Earth's species to leave the planet.

The film opens with a powerful apocalyptic vision of Tokyo, buildings destroyed and the city seemingly devoid of life. After Robocop 2, Detroit is on the verge of bankruptcy after a series of failed business plans and drop of stocks, and are now struggling with their plans to create the new Delta City.
