Synopsis
Maxime est un homme à qui tout réussit : de grandes études, une carrière fulgurante, une famille parfaite et aimante. Mais il y a une ombre au tableau : sa fille, Claire, l'accuse d'attouchements sexuels. Quand elle en parle à sa mère, Daphné, celle-ci, très amoureuse de son mari, peine à la croire. Mais quand la plus jeune raconte à sa mère des faits du même ordre, Daphné s'enfuit avec ses filles et porte plainte. Elle n'a pas de preuves, perd son sang-froid face à un policier, est hospitalisée et soupçonnée de fabuler pour divorcer et avoir la garde de ses filles. Maxime récupère ses enfants et prétend que son épouse est folle. Il croit avoir gagné la partie car il a l'image d'un fils et d'un père parfait. Mais son père, à la faveur d'un incident révélateur de l'inceste subi par ses petites-filles, découvre la vérité et appelle la police.Actors

Vassili is an aging Paris hustler who has a hard time accepting he is growing too old for his profession. He lashes out by strangling one of his clients who had commented on his age. Later that night he finds an unconscious teenager in the Bois de Boulogne (a cruising park) who was apparently also hustling and has been beaten and robbed. The boy claims not to remember his name or anything else from his past, so Vassili takes him to his apartment and christens the boy Angelo due to his angelic appearance and an angel tattoo on his abdomen. The two begin a relationship that is purely sexual at first but later develops into a romantic connection.

Laura Burney (Julia Roberts) lives in a beautiful home by the beach on Cape Cod with her husband, Martin Burney (Patrick Bergin), a charming, handsome and wealthy investment counselor who is also possessive, abusive, and controlling. It becomes apparent that he has obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD). Laura tries to abide his rules, but suffers under the strain of doing so. One day, Martin believes Laura has been flirting with an attractive neighbor, and he physically assaults her in a jealous rage. The abuse has been ongoing, and started immediately after their wedding. In an effort to escape Martin, Laura plans and fakes her own death at sea in a storm while the couple are boating. Because Laura had deliberately led Martin to believe that she could not swim, he believed she had died once she was lost overboard. However, Laura was able to swim safely to shore, because she had recently taken swimming lessons at the YWCA. Laura secretly returns home, retrieves some clothing and cash she had hidden away in preparation, disguises herself, and leaves home after flushing her wedding ring down the toilet.

Sam Bowden (Nick Nolte) is a lawyer in the quiet town of New Essex, North Carolina. William Lee is an exterminator who finds that his wife Joan is stealing his insecticide (pyrethrum) to use as a drug. When Lee is arrested by the police, he begins hallucinating because of "bug powder" exposure. He believes he is a secret agent with two handlers or controllers in the forms of a talking insectoid typewriter and an alien "Mugwump". The bug assigns him the mission of killing Joan. She is allegedly an agent of an organization called Interzone Incorporated. Lee dismisses the bug and its instructions and kills it. He returns home to find Joan having sex with Hank, one of his writer friends. Shortly afterwards, he accidentally kills her while attempting to shoot a drinking glass off her head in imitation of William Tell.

Seventeen-year-old Colombian girl María Álvarez works in sweat shop-like conditions at a flower plantation.
