Synopsis
Téhéran, 1988. Shideh, mariée et mère d'une petite fille, va débuter une écolde de médecine. Son mari est appelé au front durant la Guerre entre l'Iran et l'Irak. Shideh se retrouve alors seule avec sa fille. Mais bien vite celle-ci commence à avoir un comportement troublant et semble malade. La mère se demande alors si sa fille n'est pas possédée par un esprit...Actors

The film begins with the sound of Adhaan. A woman is standing on the rooftop contemplating jumping. She jumps in slow motion. Flashback. Munes does not want a husband. Her tyrannical brother, Amir Khan, wants Munes to prepare for a visiting suitor and demands that she cook dinner for them. The film starts when a male teacher comes to the grey classroom. The headmaster says "good morning" and announced a message that there will be ongoing changes in the school, and said that the students' teachers will advise them further. The teacher tells the children that two plus two equals five. He told the children to be silent, otherwise to have order in the classroom. The teacher writes 2 + 2 = 5 on the chalkboard and tells the children to repeat after him, in order to know. A student asked the teacher that two plus two is four, then the teacher said that two plus two was actually five, and told him to sit down and be quiet. The teacher told them to put their notebooks out to write 2 + 2 = 5. While the teacher was saying the expression, another student was saying that two plus two was four. The teacher asked him who gave the student permission to talk, and scolded the student. He was ordering the student to say 2 + 2 = 5 but the student denied. A student was saying 2 + 2 = 4, but the teacher was ordering to face the front. Then, the teacher sent the 3 older students and the older three students said two plus two equals five was true. A student had to stand next to the teacher. The teacher was holding the chalk. When the teacher said to the student that it was his last chance, he cleaned the 5 and replaced it with 4. At the end, the older students started shooting at the classroom and injured the student. An injured student was later taken by the older students. The teacher cleans everything from the chalkboard. A student writes on his notebook 2 + 2 = 5 and then he strikes the 5 and writes the 4 next to the stroken 5.

The film opens in Saigon at the height of the Vietnam War. John Converse (Moriarty), a disillusioned war correspondent, approaches Ray Hicks (Nolte), a merchant marine sailor and acquaintance of Converse's from the US, for help in smuggling a large quantity of heroin from Vietnam to San Francisco, where he will exchange the drugs for payment with Converse's wife Marge (Weld), who has become addicted to Dilaudid. When Hicks discovers he is being followed by thugs connected either to Converse or his suppliers, he goes on the run with Marge and the heroin, and is eventually pursued by the corrupt DEA agent (Zerbe), who initially set the deal in motion. As Marge is separated from her supply of prescription drugs, she experiences withdrawal, and Hicks decides to help her wean off her dilaudid addiction by using the heroin. Hicks also attempts to find another buyer for the heroin before his pursuers can catch up to him.

Close to the end of the American Civil War, injured Yankee soldier John McBurney is rescued from the verge of death by a twelve-year-old girl from an all-girl boarding school in Louisiana. In 1943 two Belarusian boys are digging in a sand field looking for abandoned rifles in order to join the Soviet partisan forces. Yustin, an old man, warns them not to dig (using sarcasm and reverse psychology). One of the boys, Flyora (Aleksei Kravchenko), finds an SVT-40 rifle. A team of anti-guerilla commandos led by an experienced sergeant and commanded by a green lieutenant are sent to secure the approach to a mountain base amid towering radio masts. When they are in position they are told to wait for their backup which has been delayed by enemy action en route. One of the soldiers, Arango, is impatient to get into the base and after arguing with the lieutenant, makes a dash up the stairs to the base. The radio operator, Parra, tries to stop him, but steps on a mine which shatters his leg and destroys the primary radio. The sergeant insists they must now enter the base to use the medical facilities.
