Synopsis
Vijay (Vijay) comes to the city with an ambition to star in the movies. He is totally mad about cinema. He lives as a tenant in Divya's (Swathi) house. He tries acting out film scenes and speaking film dialogues in a loud fashion thus disturbing her studies.So both of them get off on the wrong foot. But finally they fall in love with each other. Ganesh (Mansoor Ali Khan) is her maternal uncle who also wants to marry Swathi. So the villain starts disturb the lovers. But the hero fight for his love and finally wins his lady love's hand.Actors

Bagavathi (Vijay), owns a tea shop cum hotel near Chennai High court. He lives with the aim of bringing up his younger brother Guna (Jai) as a doctor. He befriends a modern girl Anjali (Reemma Sen) while giving a refill to her. She doesn't know that the refill is valuable for Bagavathy and so casually throws it. He admonishes her for that and with the help of a receptionist gets it back. Anjali initially thinks that he is stingy. But later when she sees him helping a lady whose daughter has gone into labour and subsequently beaten up by a policeman, she gains some respect. Soon Bagavathy finds out that Anjali is the daughter of a Judge who is his friend. Guna has a girlfriend Priya with whom he accidentally develops a physical relationship. Guna hides this news from his brother. Guna's love is objected by Priya's father Easwarapandiyan (Ashish Vidyarthi) fearing for the loss of his status and name in society. Soon, in a college function, some goons sent by Easwarapandiyan beat up Guna. Bagavathy finds him and takes him to hospital. He takes the help of his friend Anand(Yugendran Vasudevan Nair) to safeguard his brother from the atrocities of Easwarapandiyan. Bagavathy, to fulfill his brother's wish, tries to convince Priya's father. Easwarapandiyan humilitates him by masking him polish his shoes. Bagavathy does so but despite that Easwarapandiyan says that Guna will die. Guna attempts to marry Priya even without the knowledge of his brother. But Priya's father collapses the marriage and Guna is killed in front of Bagavathy. Anand is also killed after trying to defend Guna.

The film is a story of romance that centers around two lovers: Devaa (Vijay) and Bharadhi (Swathi). The two are deep in love but encounter opposition from Bharadhi's father (Sivakumar), the head of the village. Sivakumar believes that his daughter's suitor is not a suitable one, due to his perceived reputation throughout the village. Although the son of the well to do Manorama, it comes to light that Sivakumar's disapproval stems from his relationship with his brother, who is seemingly apathetic and lackadaisical. The film ends happily with Sivakumar recognizing that his now son-in-law is in actuality a really upstanding citizen in the village. The two young lovers overcome all problems and live their lives happily married.

Vallarasu (Vijayakanth) is the deputy commissioner of police and a very honest Police Officer who has arrested Wasim Khan a terrorist from Pakistan. He is married and has wife Anjali (Devayani) and 2 children. Vallarasu kills his senior Police officer (Raguvaran) who is his father in law on knowing he is hand-in-glove with terrorists and Anti-National elements. Bhoopathy (Vijay) is a happy-go-lucky person who is very relaxed in life, as shown when he falls asleep in a train and misses his station. He goes to Villivakkam in search of Vishwanathan (Nassar) who is his father Mani's (Manivannan) best friend. Kattabomman (Vadivelu) is Vishwanathan's assistant who torments Bhoopathy right from the day they meet. Vishwanathan's first daughter Priya (Sneha) initially hates Bhoopathy and they are at constant loggerheads at each other. When Priya's aunt (Suhasini Mani Ratnam) is going to leave they again fight and the same old revenge story takes place. Soon,however, Priya falls for Bhoopathy. When Bhoopathy comes to know about this, he is reminded of his father's words that he should not make him ask forgiveness to his friend under any circumstances. Although Bhoopathy also likes Priya he controls his emotions and keeps silent. He tries to leave but is caught by Vishwanathan and is forced to come back. Price receives a call from her friend to cone for her wedding. On the insistence of Priya's younger sister, Vishwanathan sends Bhoopathy along with them. There the groom Sriman (Sriman) makes him drunk and he reveals his feelings about Priya. They become friends soon. Then they all go to Black World and a photographer (Pandiarajan) they meet takes a photo of Bhoopathy and Priya holding hands. Bhoopathy keeps avoiding Priya as he is reminded of his promise to his father but cannot forget her. Soon the groom's family arrives and around the same time Mani arrives. Eventually, while the marriage preparations are going strong, the groom's father (Nizhalgal Ravi) finds the photo and the wedding is called off. In the railway station, Bhoopathy tries to convince the groom but in vain. After a few dilemmas by Priya's mother (Meera Krishna) and Priya's aunt,Vishwanathan arrives at the railway station to see Bhoopathy arguing with the groom's family and forces the groom to leave. He finds out the true reasons behind Bhoopathy's backing out and finally unites Bhoopathy with Priya.

Sachein (Vijay) is a carefree and happy go lucky guy college student, who comes across the beautiful Shalini (Genelia D'Souza) on college campus and falls deeply in love with her but she doesn't love him. Arnold aka Ayyasamy (Vadivelu) has repeated the same class every year for nine consecutive years. He claims this is because he wants to be grateful to his teachers and Santhanam (Santhanam). Also, Arnold and Santhanam love Shalini. Shaliini doesn't take kindly to Sachein's smitten behaviour. Sachein is able to befriend Shalini through persistence. Shalini grows fond of Sachein. Santhanam, jealous of Sachein's relationship with Shalini, writes a graffiti on the school wall. The graffiti reads "Sachein loves Shalini". Shalini confronts Sachein, and demands an explanation. Sachein pleads his innocence, and Shalini believes him. However, Sachein tells Shalini that even though he didn't write the graffiti, he really does love Shalini. Shalini bashes Sachein, telling him that he does not know the true meaning of love, and tells him she does not love him. The next day, Sachein meets Shalini and tells her that she will fall for him. Shalini takes on Sachein's bet and gives him a total of one month to try and make her fall in love. Shalini though is a good friend of Sachein until Manju (Bipasha Basu) runs behind Sachein with skimpy costumes and makes Shalini go green with envy. Shalini's parents have arranged her wedding with an industrialist's son in Canada, yet Sachein pushes on. Days pass, and yet Sachein is not able to presuade Shalini. On the last day of their bet, Sachein decides to bid goodbye to Shalini and even apologies for running behind her so long. Shalini develops a soft corner for Sachein and decides to express her love to him until his dad (Raghuvaran) who is a multi millionaire comes to meet him. Shalini doesn't express her love because then he will think that she loves him only for the money. Sachein plans on leaving India, and goes to the airport. When Sachein was about to take the plane home Shalini expresses her love to him and they are united.
