Synopsis
C’est 2 frères. Qui habitent Montbard, en Bourgogne. Et qui, pour les vacances d’été, ont décidé d’aller voir leur mère à Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Parce que ça fait longtemps. Parce que ça lui fera plaisir. Ce ne sont pas les parce que qui manquent. Ils ont trouvé un motor-home d’occasion, et vont faire la route au rythme du bitume, au gré des envies. C’est ça l’idée : une diagonale de France entre frères. Sauf que leur tombe dessus une fille qui n’était pas prévue. Une fille attachante. Inattendue. Et qui n’a jamais vu la mer. Ils font donc la route à trois. Et tout doucement, entre désirs diffus et envies cachées, ils réalisent que d’être un trio n’empêche pas de s’aimer. Sans jalousie. Plaisirs partagés.Actors

The plot centres around knifethrower Gabor (Auteuil) and a girl called Adèle (Paradis), who intends to kill herself by jumping from a bridge. Gabor intervenes to prevent the suicide and persuades Adèle to become the target girl in his knifethrowing act. The film then follows their relationship as they travel around Europe with the act. Their companionship and teamwork mean great luck for both of them. Then they get separated and their lives once again become luckless. The film ends on a bridge in Istanbul, this time with her saving him from suicide.

The characters from the first two films get together again, 27 years on, in Sardinia. The villages of Charmoussey and Super-Charmoussey (Upper Charmoussey) have been longtime rivals despite the fact that many of their inhabitants are related to each other. While Charmoussey is relatively poor, Upper-Charmoussey enjoys the luxuries of a ski resort and thus a better economy than its sister village. The rivalry is also stressed because of the local beauty pageant, where the better trained and dressed girls of Upper-Charmoussey always win the contest. Since the size of both municipalities is very small, the local government has decided to merge Charmoussey into Upper-Charmoussey, this leaves the inhabitants of Charmoussey desperate because it is their last chance to win the beauty contest. In order to achieve that, they call the only person who has had any success outside the village, Franck (Benoît Poelvoorde) a second rate actor, who has been engaged mostly as an extra in many films (playing dead people) and is currently down on his luck after causing an accident that resulted in breaking the leg of actress Catherine Deneuve (his biggest role so far).

In the Arizona desert, truck driver Martin "Rubber Duck" Penwald is passed by a woman in a Jaguar E-Type, which leads to an encounter with a sheriff's deputy.
