Synopsis
Pour le bicentenaire de Waterloo, un docu-fiction haletant révèle les derniers secrets d’une bataille aussi célèbre que chaotique. Retour sur l’ultime déroute de Napoléon. Le 18 juin 1815, se déroule une bataille majuscule, de celles qui marquent les changements d’époque. Après Waterloo, Napoléon sera contraint d’abdiquer, la France perdra à tout jamais son statut de première puissance mondiale et l’Empire britannique connaîtra un nouvel essor. Des conséquences incalculables pour ce maelstrom chaotique qui aura duré une journée seulement, et causé la mort de 11 000 soldats et fait 35 000 blessés. En lançant ses 120 000 grognards à l’assaut des troupes britanniques et prussiennes qui, près de deux fois plus nombreuses, menacent la France par le nord, Napoléon espérait pourtant que Waterloo apparaisse comme son "chef-d’œuvre, la bataille des batailles". Mais, fatigué et peu inspiré, l’Empereur se heurte à l’habileté tactique du duc de Wellington et du maréchal Blücher.
