Il est actuellement le dernier film japonais à avoir rapporté plus de 10 milliards de yens au box-office japonais de 2019, le précédent étant Your Name., il y a trois ans ; il est le 7e film japonais le plus lucratif au Japon et aussi le 6e film d'animation japonais de tous les temps. Tenki no ko est également le long-métrage le plus rentable de 2019 au Japon, devançant le film en prise de vues réelles Aladdin.
Le long métrage a été sélectionné par le Japon pour la catégorie du meilleur film international de la 92e cérémonie des Oscars.
Synopsis
Le jeune lycéen Hodaka Morishima quitte son domicile sur une île isolée pour s'installer à Tokyo, mais il manque rapidement d'argent. Il vit dans l'isolement mais trouve finalement un travail en tant qu'écrivain pour un magazine occulte louche. Après que Hodaka commence à travailler, le temps reste pluvieux jour après jour. Puis, dans un coin très fréquenté de la ville, il rencontre une jeune fille nommée Hina Amano. Hina et son jeune frère vivent ensemble mais mènent une vie joyeuse et stable. Cette fille enjouée et déterminée possède un pouvoir étrange et merveilleux : le pouvoir d'arrêter la pluie et de dégager le ciel.Actors

The Garden of Words is considered a romance and drama film. It opens at the start of the rainy season in Tokyo with Takao Akizuki (秋月 孝雄, Akizuki Takao), a 15-year-old student and aspiring shoemaker, opting to skip his first class and sketch shoe designs in the garden at Shinjuku Gyoen. There he encounters Yukari Yukino (雪野 百香里, Yukino Yukari), a 27-year-old woman who is skipping work and enjoying beer and chocolate. When she notices the school crest on his uniform, Yukino bids him farewell with a tanka (a form of Japanese poetry), leaving Takao puzzled as to its origin and meaning. The two continue to encounter each other and socialize in the park on rainy mornings, but never formally introduce themselves. After Yukino expresses an interest in Takao's shoemaking, he decides to make a pair of shoes in her size. With the end of the rainy season, Takao stops visiting the park and focuses on his work.

Azumi and her only remaining colleague Nagara find themselves hunted by ninjas hired by General Kanbei for the assassinations they have carried out. One of which is the killing of his master. They hid temporarily in a temple so Nagara can heal his wounds sustained from their recent encounter. Azumi comes across some bandits led by Ginkaku, a young bandit who bears a striking resemblance to Azumi's former friend (and love interest) Nachi. Later, Azumi and Nagara are found by the allied ninjas working for Gessai, upon whose orders the assassins initially began their mission. After discussing it with Gessai, Azumi and Nagara leave to seek out their final target, Sanada Masayuki. On their mission they are accompanied by a squad of government ninja, among them a young woman named Kozue.
