Add to a movie listWinter Woman (Hangul: 겨울여자; RR: Gyeo-ul-yeoja) is a 1977 South Korean film. It is based on a novel by Cho Hae-il which was serialised in the Chosun Ilbo in 1975. The popularity of the novel led to the film being made. Dealing with the sexual awakening of the female protagonist, the book and film earned the condemnation of conservative critics, however the author's leftist subtext went unchallenged overshadowed by the sexual themes. The film was the best selling Korean film of the 1970s, and made a star of its female lead Chang Mi-hee.
Synopsis
Yi-hwa is the daughter of a prosperous Christian preacher and has been raised to be morally and sexually conservative. Whilst still in High School her beauty earns her the admiration of many including Yo-sub with whom she becomes friends, however when Yo-sub desires sex with her she rejects him and he commits suicide. Becoming a university student she becomes the girlfriend of Suk-gi and he too desires to have sex with her. When Yi-hwa remains true to herself and rejects his advances he rapes her. Suk-gi dies in a car accident and she receives a posthumous letter from him accusing her of being selfish for withholding from him that which she could give without cost to herself, and valuing her chastity more than those she claims to love.Actors

After returning from the Vietnam War, Chang-su (Song Jae-ho), who works as a scrubber at a public bath, runs into Yeong-ja (Yeom Bok-sun) in a police station. Ignazio La Brocca, la soixantaine, vit dans une villa luxueuse avec Angela, son ancienne bonne à tout faire, devenue sa femme, Le jeune architecte Lance Bruni vient leur rendre visite accompagné de son fils Jimmy âgé de quinze ans. Il a été alerté par la Direction des Beaux-Arts qu’au cours des travaux de construction du métro, tout près d’ici, on aurait trouvé la fosse où Ruggero d'Altavilla, premier comte de Sicile (1062) aurait muré vivante la princesse Aisha, coupable de n’avoir pas cédé à ses avances. Le jeune Jimmy est immédiatement troublé par Angela qui dort désormais séparée de son mari. Celle-ci trouve une rose déposée dans sa poche puis un mot doux tout à fait explicite. Angela soupçonne d’abord Lance l'architecte, puis devine que l'auteur des lettres est le jeune garçon qui lui fait comprendre qu’il est capable de blesser et même tuer son mari pour changer sa vie. Les fouilles se poursuivent, ainsi que les malentendus, jusqu'à ce qu’Ignazio, convaincu par Jimmy de se rendre de nuit dans la fosse pour y découvrir un trésor est coincé par un éboulement provoqué par le garçon diabolique. Pendant ce temps, Angela a cédé à l'architecte. Ignazio est finalement sorti de ce mauvais pas à la suite des remords de Jimmy. Mais l'arrivée des invités, tous ces événements qui s’enchaînent, l’accident d'Ignazio causés par le jeune secrétaire-amant ont secoué la routine ennuyeuse du couple d'âge mûr, qui, en se séparant de ses hôtes, semble avoir retrouvé une nouvelle harmonie.

Dorothy "Dot" Burton (Faye Emerson) is a member of a gang of bank robbers. Using her femininity and a cute dog provided her by her male cohorts who dognapped him, she is able to enter a bank before opening time, leaving the door open and the bank guard holding her dog, thus enabling a successful robbery. When police interfere with the getaway she faints and proclaims her innocence, however the police have strong doubts as "her" dog won't come to her and has a different name on his collar than what she calls him. After she confesses to her part in the robbery, she is sent to women's prison where she makes enemies of fellow inmates seeking Dot's share of the money.

Two mentally ill women who are clearly suffering from not otherwise specified delusional disorders, a mother and a (grown) daughter, live together in a secluded mansion. They are in a relationship and both are recognised for their beauty. They spend their days playing perverse BDSM-related incestuous games in memory of their sadistic patriarch who, when he was still alive, raped his daughter when she was eleven, murdered several servants, and is now a mummified corpse with which the daughter is shown having sex. They occasionally kill their servants and bury their bodies in the garden.

Nami Matsushima is found in a wedding chapel by police led by detective Hirose. They handcuff her, but she is able to escape. Kudo, a worker in a sex show club, rescues her. He is a radical with a history of problems with the police. One of the women from the sex show, who had unsuccessfully tried to seduce Kudo, finds Nami's handcuffs in Kudo's things, and informs the police. The police arrest and beat Kudo and then release and tail him back to Nami's hiding place.
