The plot concerns a young woman (Jensen) caretaking a house and looking after the wheelchair bound grandfather (Carrier) of an absent family on a sparsely populated Washington State island. The local handyman (Lenz) starts to take an interest. The film premiered in January 2011 at the Slamdance Film Festival.
Synopsis
Sur une île isolée, Joslyn devient aide à domicile auprès d’un vieil homme en état végétatif. Seule avec lui, dans une grande maison, sans réseau téléphonique, ni accès à Internet, et traversant une douloureuse épreuve personnelle, elle oscille entre le réconfort qu’elle pourrait trouver en sa compagnie et l’étrange sensation de peur et de suspicion que lui inspire le vieil homme. La seconde est l'enterrement des suicidés de Stammheim sous haute surveillance policière. Dix réalisateurs du nouveau cinéma allemand témoignent de cette accélération des événements en mettant en scène des fictions et courts documentaires historiques pour restituer le climat de terreur quotidienne inspirée par la RAF tout en s'interrogeant sur la pression étatique nécessaire à la traque de terroristes dans un pays démocratique.
