It is a remake of the 1981 Tamil film Andha 7 Naatkal, which was directed by K.Bagyaraj. Director Bapu remade in to Telugu and then in Hindi. In Woh 7 Din, Anil Kapoor's role, Naseeruddin's acting, and the film's music were considered strengths. The music was done by Laxmikant Pyarelal while Anand Bakshi wrote the lyrics.
Synopsis
Maya (played by Padmini Kolhapure) attempts suicide on the day of her nuptial night. Dr. Anand (played by Naseeruddin Shah), Maya's husband, who is a doctor, treats her, and finds out that she attempted suicide. When Maya gains conscience, she confirms her secret to Dr. Anand: She didn't want to get married and was forced.Actors

Raja Bhaiya (played by Mithun Chakraborty) and his friend Charan (played by Satish Kaushik) come to a city to make a living. Failed in seeking job, one day, they are teased and ragged by Kallu Dada (played by Ranjeet). The quarrel gets physical and Raja wins it. Raja thus becomes the local underworld don and starts collecting protection money from shopkeepers. He also get addicted to alcohol. Raja meets with Laxmi Rao (played by Madhuri Dixit) and is attracted to her, he comes to her assistance when her dad, Mohan, passes away, by helping to cremate him; he comes to her aid again when Kallu and his goons attempt to molest her; and when the municipality tears down her hut, he decides to let her live with him. Due to her influence, he gives up his bad habits. As things go well, they both decide to get married. But on the wedding day, Laxmi's old beau, a Professor (played by Vinod Mehra), shows up and proposes marriage with her. Meanwhile Raja is also arrested and held for killing Kallu.

Roop Rathore (Shahrukh Khan) is a singer in Bombay just like his father (Anupam Kher), who is now sick and needs immediate medical care. Khalujan (Naseeruddin Shah) and his nephew Babban (Arshad Warsi), a thief duo, pose as a Nawab and his attendant, and manage to run away with a prized necklace from a jewellery shop. In the police chase they get separated, while Khalujaan is hurt. Months later Babban traces Khalujan again, this time posing a nawab, at a poetry contest. The central figure of the film is represented by a mysterious figure called "Gaja Gamini" (Madhuri Dixit), who inspires, arouses, and confuses the common man. "Gaja Gamini" is the inspiration behind Leonardo da Vinci's (Naseeruddin Shah) 'Mona Lisa', Kalidas' poem "Shakuntala", and a photojournalist named Shahrukh's (Shah Rukh Khan) photographs. The mysterious "Gaja Gamini" appears as four characters, one of them being Sangeeta, a blind girl from Banaras at the beginning of time, who inspires village women (Farida Jalal, Shilpa Shirodkar, and Shabana Aazmi) to revolt against a male-dominated system and carve a niche for women forever. Another character is Shakuntala, who is the subject of Kalidas' poem of the same name. Shakuntala incites jealousy in the women and love in the men around her, charming humans and animals alike in the forests of Kerala. "Gaja Gamini" is also Mona Lisa during the Renaissance, the object of painter Leonardo da Vinci's obsession. Finally, Monika, the most confusing sector of the film, is supposed to represent the woman of the New Millennium. Kamdev, the God of Love (Inder Kumar), walks the earth throughout history, attempting to win the love of "Gaja Gamini".

When Kajal (Sridevi) marries Raaj (Anil Kapoor), an Engineer by profession, she and her dad (Kader Khan), automatically assume that he is rich, wealthy, and corrupt. Kader khan is very happy that his daughter does not have any in-laws, and that she'll get to rule the roost in her new house. But that is not the case. Raaj does not have an air-conditioner, a car, not even a refrigerator. This infuriates Kajal, and in her mind she creates a separate world, where she is rich, wealthy, has several cars, and lives lavishly in a big bungalow. Even the birth of two children (a young son and a little daughter), and several years of marriage, does not change Kajal. An example of this occurs when Kajal meets her old friend Nisha (Poonam Dhillon) who Kajal feeds a pack of lies such that her husband is a business magnate, her family own several cars, live in a big bungalow etc. Nisha who is more wealthy than Kajal then offers to give her a lift home, only for Kajal to have to lie about the directions to her home according to the story she has fabricated. Kajal then realises her mistake when the bungalow she points out as her own turns out to be Nisha's. Nisha explains to Kajal that no matter how much and how little you have, your own house is your own home and that fabricating such stories only adds insult to her husband, family and home. When Janhvi (Urmila Matondkar) Raaj's boss's (Saeed Jaffrey) niece comes from overseas, she meets Raj at the airport and assumes he is the driver. AS she behaves rudely with him, he sends her back home alone, not caring about what his boss would say on that. Jahnvi reaches the office well in time and praises Raj's attitude, but when she learns that he's an engineer working for her uncle's construction company, she apologises to him. Shani uncle introduces her with Vikram Khanna, a handsome young guy, who is his business partner. Vikram observes Jahnvi and likes the young, naturally vivacious girl very much. He almost dreams of marrying her. They both become friends. One day, Vikram and Jahnvi go to sight seeing Jahnvi's guest house, at the new property location. Sahni gets worried as the weather is going from bad to worse but both have not returned till evening. At the other side, as Raj leaves the office to go for the farmhouse, Vikram is seeing asking Jahnvi for marriage casually. But Jahnvi says that she didn't find him special to be her choice. She rejects his advances. Vikram tries to get physical with her but Jahnvi slaps him. Angered at the slap, Vikram throws her down on the bed and forcibly tries to get intimate with her. But Raj arrives in the nick of time and saves Jahnvi. Vikram threatens him with loss of his job but he doesn't care. Jahnvi remembers how earlier Raj had rejected the job n apartment offer from a rival company due to Mr. Sahni's help. She starts liking Raj since the moment and falls in love with him. When she learns that he is a married man whose wife she helped in the electronics store for buying a large music player, she is adamant on getting married to Raj by hook or by crook. After meeting the greedy Kajal inside the city Ganesh temple, Janhvi offers two crore rupees in exchange for marriage to Raaj. And Kajal, seeing this as her opportunity to gain wealth and an easy life, accepts her proposal not knowing that she is making a big mistake and this decision will change her life forever.

Manav (Akshaye Khanna) comes to visit India with his wealthy father Jagmohan Mehta (Amrish Puri), his aunt and uncle, and his father's employees. In Chamba he meets Mansi (Aishwarya Rai), the beautiful daughter of a spiritual singer named Tara Babu (Alok Nath); Jagmohan Mehta owns the Mehta & Mehta group and is into investing in Chamba; their families meet, and Jagmohan and Tara Babu become acquainted and friendly toward each other. Manav and Mansi fall in love, but when Jagmohan learns of this he packs the family up and moves them to their house in Mumbai, with the excuse that Mansi and her father are of low social status. However, he is nice to Tara Babu's face and invites him to come and stay with him in Mumbai if he, Tara Babu, ever happens to be visiting there. Mansi is distressed by Manav's departure but he assures her that he will not abandon her and that everything will be fine. She gives Manav his scarf which she modified, making it say "Manavsi", a juxtaposition of their names.
