Synopsis
August « Auggie » Pullman (Jacob Tremblay) est un garçon né avec une malformation faciale appelée le syndrome de Treacher Collins qui l'a empêché jusqu'à présent d'aller normalement à l'école du fait des nombreuses opérations chirurgicales qu'il a subies pendant son enfance. Et c'est sa mère qui a assuré un enseignement à la maison. Enfant intelligent et passionné par les sciences, il se prépare à intégrer sa première année de middle school (au Canada, équivalent à la fin de l'école primaire et au début du secondaire; en France au CM2 et à la dernière année de primaire) dans une école privée de son quartier, Beecher Prep. Avec l'aide de ses parents (Julia Roberts et Owen Wilson) et de sa sœur (Izabela Vidovic), il doit surmonter moqueries, mises à l'écart et méchancetés d'autres élèves, mais réussira à se faire accepter.Actors

It is summer of 1981. Laura Burney (Julia Roberts) lives in a beautiful home by the beach on Cape Cod with her husband, Martin Burney (Patrick Bergin), a charming, handsome and wealthy investment counselor who is also possessive, abusive, and controlling. It becomes apparent that he has obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD). Laura tries to abide his rules, but suffers under the strain of doing so. However, Laura was able to swim safely to shore, because she had recently taken swimming lessons at the YWCA. Laura secretly returns home, retrieves some clothing and cash she had hidden away in preparation, disguises herself, and leaves home after flushing her wedding ring down the toilet.

Dave is third to flatline, and he sees a vision of a girl, Winnie Hicks (Kesha Reed), that he bullied in grade school. The three men start to experience vivid hallucinations that are related to their afterlife visions, but Nelson's circumstances are particularly freakish; he is repeatedly physically attacked by Billy Mahoney and each day presents with fresh cuts and wounds. Joe, engaged to be married, is haunted by home videos that he secretly filmed of his sexual trysts with other women. Dave is confronted by a vision of Winnie Hicks on a train, and she verbally taunts him like he did to her.
