Madame Samovar (Mrs. Potts en version originale) est un personnage de fiction développé par l'animateur David Pruiksma pour le compte des studios Disney. Sa première apparition a lieu au cinéma en 1991 dans La Belle et la Bête.Par la suite, Madame Samovar apparaîtra dans La Belle et la Bête 2 : Le Noël enchanté (1997) et dans Le Monde magique de la Belle et la Bête (1998), ainsi que dans le remake de 2017 en prise de vues réelle, sous le traits de Emma Thompson.

À la fin du XVIII siècle, dans un château proche d'un petit village français, vivait un jeune prince capricieux, égoïste et insensible. Belle owns and works at her music and bookstore in France. A group of children walk into the store eager to hear Belle's stories, as she is noted to be a great storyteller. Belle agrees to tell a story, but the gang also play games and learn some simple lessons about life. Belle narrates two classic Disney cartoons, The Three Little Pigs and Peter and the Wolf, while the children help Belle clean the bookstore. She also reads The Wise Little Hen and Morris the Midget Moose, but Shawn and Harmony will not help make chili for the group. Along the way, Belle adds music and interacts with the children.

An enchantress, disguised as an old beggar, offers a rose to a young prince, in exchange for shelter in his castle from the cold, but the prince refuses. For his arrogance, the enchantress transforms him into a beast and places a spell on the castle. She gives him a magic mirror that enables him to view faraway events, along with the enchanted rose that she had offered. To break the spell, the prince must learn to love another and earn her love in return before the rose's last petal falls on his 21st birthday. If he fails, he will remain a beast forever.
