Nancy Thompson (named Nancy Holbrook in the 2010 reboot) is a fictional character in the A Nightmare on Elm Street film series. She was portrayed by actress Heather Langenkamp in the original film series and by Rooney Mara in the 2010 remake. Nancy is the primary protagonist and final girl in the 1984 original film, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, and Wes Craven's New Nightmare. The character also appears in the comic book series based on the films as well as the 2010 reboot.The Nightmare franchise focuses on Freddy Krueger, a demon of a serial killer who uses dreams to murder the children of the people who burned him to death as an act of vengeance. Nancy is one of these children, and the films depict her struggle to survive her dreams and defeat Krueger.
Biography
Nancy vit au 1428 Elm Street et étudie au lycée de Californie, Son père est lieutenant dans la police etsa mère, Marge, est alcoolique sans emploi.
Un jour, sa meilleure amie Tina lui confie avoir fait d'atroces cauchemars mettant en scène un homme au visage brûlé ayant des lames de rasoirs fixés sur sa main droite, et lui fait ainsi part de la crainte qui la paralyse depuis son réveil. Afin de la rassurer, Nancy et son petit ami Glenn Lantz restent dormir en sa compagnie. Pendant une discussion, elles réalisent qu'elles ont rêvé du même monstre. Quelques instants plus tard, ils sont rejoints par le petit ami de Tina, Rod Lane. Nancy et Glenn s'apprêtent alors à rentrer mais Tina insiste pour qu'ils restent. Durant la nuit, Rod lui avoue avoir eu des cauchemars, avant de s'endormir. Tina entend une voix l'appelant à l'extérieur de la maison, lorsqu'elle sort vérifier, elle est prise en chasse par son persécuteur, il la rattrape à l'entrée de la maison, se débattant en fait dans son lit, elle est traînée jusqu'au plafond malgré les efforts de Rod qui essaye en vain de la réveiller, et assassinée sous ses yeux.
Par peur d’être accusé du meurtre de celle-ci, il prend la fuite.
Nancy et Glenn, qui ont entendu les hurlements de Tina, enfoncent la porte de la chambre et découvrent avec horreur la dépouille de Tina baignant dans le sang.

Heather Langenkamp lives in Los Angeles with her husband Chase and her young son Dylan, and has become quite popular due to her role as Nancy Thompson from the Nightmare on Elm Street film series. One night, she has a nightmare in which she, Dylan and Chase are attacked by animated Krueger claws of an upcoming Nightmare film in which two of the workers are brutally murdered on set. Waking up to an earthquake, she spies a cut on Chase's finger exactly like one he'd received in his dream, but they quickly dismiss the notion.

A serial killer, having murdered over 30 people, is on the loose in a Los Angeles suburb. A television repairman with a pronounced limp, named Horace Pinker (Mitch Pileggi), becomes the prime suspect. When the investigating detective, Lt. Don Parker (Michael Murphy), gets too close, Pinker murders Parker's wife, foster daughter, and foster son. However, his other foster son Jonathan (Peter Berg) develops a strange connection to Pinker through his dreams and leads Parker to Pinker's rundown shop. In a shootout in which several officers are killed, Pinker manages to escape. He targets Jonathan's girlfriend Allison (Camille Cooper) in retribution.

One year after the events of the second film, Kristen Parker is scolded by her mother Elaine to go to bed after staying up all night making a papier-mâché house. Kristen objects but obeys her mother. As she dreams, she is stalked in her model, which is revealed to be 1428 Elm Street, the home of Nancy Thompson and Jesse Walsh. Running from him, she wakes up in her own bed again and realizes it was a dream. The stalker, who is revealed as Freddy Krueger, then appears to her when she goes to wash her face and proceeds to slash her wrists with his claws. Elaine walks in, and Freddy makes the attack appear as a suicide attempt and has her admitted to the hospital for help. Going into hysterics after an attempt to sedate her, Kristen is calmed when Nancy Thompson, a newly hired member of the hospital staff arrives and earns her trust by finishing Freddy's nursery rhyme.
