People's Artist of Russia (1994). Winner of USSR State Prize (1975), the State Prize of the RSFSR behalf of the Vasilyev brothers (1982) and the Lenin Komsomol Award (1974).
Martynov was born in Ivanovo, October 24, 1945. In 1970 he graduated from Russian Academy of Theatre Arts. Since 1970 he worked as an actor of the Moscow Youth Theatre, 1972 Martynov becomes an actor of the Moscow Drama Theater on Malaya Bronnaya.

In the aftermath of the victory in France, Hitler decides to attack the Soviet Union and selects Marshal von Bock in charge of leading Army Group Center of the Wehrmacht into Russia. The film is set in Karelia (near Finland) in 1942 during World War II and was filmed near Ruskeala. Senior Sergeant Vaskov is stationed with a group of young female anti-aircraft gunners in a railway station far from the front line.
