Anton Furst (6 May 1944 — 24 November 1991) was a production designer who won an Academy Award for designing the noirish nightmare version of Gotham City in Tim Burton's Batman (1989). Furst was unable to return to its sequel, Batman Returns, due to contractual obligations; he was replaced by Bo Welch.

Biography

Anthony Furst étudie les beaux arts et la sculpture au Royal College of Art de Londres. Il commence à travailler comme assistant d'Anthony Masters sur 2001, l'Odyssée de l'espace. Plus tard, il crée un spectacle à base d'hologrammes, "The Light Fantastic", qui sera utilisé par The Who lors de sa tournée au milieu des années 1970. Par la suite, il crée "Holoco", une société spécialisée dans les effets spéciaux qui participe à Star Wars ou Superman.

Puis, il se lance dans la direction artistique, et collabore à des films comme Full Metal Jacket et Batman, film qui lui permet d'obtenir un Oscar. Au début des années 1990, il déménage à Los Angeles et crée "The Furst Company" au sein de Columbia Pictures.

Il a aussi dessiné le premier restaurant Planet Hollywood à New York en 1991.

In 1969, Dr. Malcolm Sayer (Robin Williams) is a dedicated and caring physician at a local hospital in the New York City borough of The Bronx. After working extensively with the catatonic patients who survived the 1917–1928 epidemic of encephalitis lethargica, Sayer discovers certain stimuli will reach beyond the patients' respective catatonic states; actions such as catching a ball, hearing familiar music, and experiencing human touch all have unique effects on particular patients and offer a glimpse into their worlds. Leonard Lowe (Robert De Niro) proves elusive in this regard, but Sayer soon discovers that Leonard is able to communicate with him by using a Ouija board.

Peter O'Toole is Peter Plunkett, the owner of a dilapidated Irish castle which has been converted to a bed and breakfast supplying the only employment for the local villagers. The film tells the story of Jenny, a British teenager, who has left home for the first time and is going to college in Paris in the early 1960s. Soon she is smitten by a local Parisian. In the present day, a young girl named Rosaleen (Sarah Patterson) dreams that she lives in a fairytale forest with her parents (Tusse Silberg and David Warner) and sister (Georgia Slowe), but one day her sister is killed by wolves. While her parents are mourning, Rosaleen goes to live with her grandmother (Angela Lansbury), who knits a bright red shawl for her granddaughter to wear. The superstitious old woman gives Rosaleen an ominous warning, to beware men whose eyebrows meet. Rosaleen returns to her village, but finds that she must deal with the advances of an amorous boy (Shane Johnstone). Rosaleen and the boy take a walk through the forest, but the boy discovers that the village's cattle have come under attack from a wolf. The villagers set out to hunt the wolf, but once caught and killed, the wolf's corpse transforms into that of a human being.
