Brian Todd (born 15 December 1921 – 21 October 1992), known professionally as Bob Todd, was an English comedy actor, mostly known for appearing as a straight man in the sketch shows of Benny Hill and Spike Milligan. For many years he lived in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Biography

Todd and his wife, Monica, had one daughter and two sons. He died at the age of 70 in Sussex.

Gus Gorman, a chronically unemployed loser, discovers he has a talent for computer programming and gets a job at the Metropolis-based conglomerate Webscoe. Gus, dissatisfied with his pay, embezzles from his employer using a technique known as salami slicing, which brings Gus to the attention of CEO Ross Webster. The story is about an Old English Sheepdog who accidentally drinks a liquid growth formula (a form of experimental fertilizer), and expands to gigantic proportions. Two criminals then steal Digby, and sell him to a circus. Digby, however, escapes by breaking his chains, and running at will across the countryside of the United Kingdom. The boy who owns Digby, as well as the scientist who worked on the growth formula, both realize that Digby is constantly increasing in size, and will soon cause enormous damage unless something is done immediately. The scientist finds out he has created a chemical that might reverse the growth formula. The British military, however, is attempting to solve the problem of the oversized sheepdog in their own way: by use of bombs and artillery.

Bus driver Stan Butler (Reg Varney) agrees to marry Susy (Janet Mahoney), much to the anguish of the rest of the family. Arthur loses his job so Stan, as the main money earner, agrees to delay the wedding while teaching Arthur to drive a bus. Meanwhile there is mutiny at the depot when the Depot Manager installs a new radio control system in all the buses (borrowing an idea previously used in the episode "Radio Control"). Jack (Bob Grant) tampers with the radio system and crosses the wires with the police frequency and several misunderstandings ensue. Blakey is then issued with a van to follow the buses around their routes, but when Stan and Jack accidentally cause a fire in the bus depot, the van is crushed between two buses in the ensuing chaos. The fire highlights the inadequacies of the depot's fire fighting equipment, which the general manager orders to be upgraded. Blakey stages a fire drill with the new equipment, but it goes spectacularly wrong when the foam machine goes out of control.
