Caldecot Chubb (born 1950) is a producer who has produced movies such as the 1997 critically acclaimed drama Eve's Bayou, Hoffa, Unthinkable, The Crow, Dark Blue and Pootie Tang.

After successfully building a small business in New York publishing fine art photography, Caldecot Chubb has worked in Los Angeles as a producer and senior production executive since the mid-1980s with stints at Pressman Film Corp. from 1988 to 1992, from 1994 to 2003 at Alphaville, and at Groundswell Productions in 2006–2007. Collectively in those sixteen years as an executive, he supervised the development and production of several dozen films besides his own. Presently, Chubb is a producer on his own account, working in a wide variety of financing and distribution environments, and in 2010, he branched out into managing writers and directors.

While continuing his movie and television work, in 2011 he partnered with Ron Martinez, founder and CEO of Invention Arts LLC, to create Aerbook, a digital publishing environment for authors and creators to make, publish and share media-rich, optionally interactive ebooks and apps designed for the fast-growing tablet marketplace.

Chubb personally produced nine movies: Unthinkable, starring Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Sheen, and Carrie-Anne Moss, released by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment in 2010; Believe in Me, starring Jeffrey Donovan, Samantha Mathis, Bruce Dern & Heather Matarrazzo, released by IFC Films in 2007; Dark Blue starring Kurt Russell and directed by Ron Shelton (United Artists, 2003); Pootie Tang (Paramount, 2001), with Chris Rock; Eve's Bayou, Kasi Lemmons' debut picture, with Samuel L. Jackson; Hoffa, starring Jack Nicholson and directed by and co-starring Danny DeVito; Charles Burnett's much acclaimed To Sleep With Anger; Waiting for the Light with Shirley MacLaine and Teri Garr; and Cherry 2000, starring Melanie Griffith.

Chubb has also served as an executive producer, most recently on Ed Harris's Appaloosa, based on the Robert Parker novel, starring Mr. Harris, Viggo Mortenson, Renée Zellweger and Jeremy Irons (WB/New Line, 2008); Michael Almereyda's Tonight at Noon, in post-production, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lauren Ambrose, Connie Nielsen and Rutger Hauer; and Alex Proyas's The Crow, starring Brandon Lee, which Miramax released in 1994. He was associate producer on the Taviani brothers' Good Morning, Babylon.

In television he was executive producer of five films: Banshee (Oxygen Network, 2006), Everyday People (HBO Films, 2004), Don't Look Back for HBO in 1996, and Avalanche for Fox in 1994; and was an executive producer of the four-hour mini-series Attila for Studios USA and the USA Network, which aired 2001. He is an executive producer of The National Tree for Hallmark.

2008 saw the release on disc of William Eggleston's 'Stranded in Canton,' a documentary Mr. Chubb produced with Robert Gordon, created from videotapes made in 1973 by the noted American photographer William Eggleston, which had a premiere screening at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2005 and is featured in a retrospective of Eggleston's work, which opened in late 2008 at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and finished its run in late 2010 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Chubb is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, in the Producer Branch. He is married with two daughters.

Faith Russel (Kari Matchett), marketing representative of the company Box of Toys who is in charge of the project, visits Rock and his father Corey (Andrew McCarthy). Corey planted the tree in their garden when Rock was born. He has reservations about the idea of transporting his tree cross country, but agrees under the condition that they deliver the tree themselves. While father and son drive the truck, Faith follows them most of the time in her car. Father and son are unable to strengthen their bonding and further dissensions arise along the way. However, Rock films the entire trip on camera and posts it on his blog. This gathers more and more fans on the internet and on the road and even causes some media coverage. Rock's internet acquaintance and love interest Katie (Paula Brancati) joins Rock on the way. Together they reach Washington, D.C on Thanksgiving. Meanwhile Faith's boss (Ted Atherton) secretly changed the plan. He wants to repeat the contest every year and therefore decides to erect the tree rather than planting it. After Faith's attempts to persuade her boss fail, the team now cuffs Rock to the tree and protest against its destruction. Using their media attention soon more people support their protest. Finally the President of the United States calls the Park ranger on his cell phone and tells him to plant the tree. The town hires lawman and peacekeeper Virgil Cole (Ed Harris) and his deputy Everett Hitch (Viggo Mortensen) to protect and regain control of the town. The pair agree on one condition: that the town follow Cole's law and essentially cede control to him. The lawmen begin by confronting four of Bragg's men who are causing a disturbance in the saloon. Three men refuse to allow themselves to be arrested, forcing Cole and Hitch to kill them. The fourth man surrenders and leaves the saloon. Bragg has a meeting with Cole and Hitch, initiating a standoff.

Clay Driscoll, a young coach from Louisiana with dreams of being the head coach of a successful boys basketball team, is hired by an Oklahoma superintendent to coach basketball. Driscoll immediately finds himself in conflict with the head of the school board, Ellis Brawley, who is also the great-great grandson of the town's founder, the owner of the bank, and the most influential man in the town. The superintendent did not ask Brawley about the hire, and now is off recovering from a medical condition. Brawley has hired another man to coach the schools' boy's basketball team, and has relegated newcomer Driscoll to the unenviable job of coaching the girl's team. Early 1960s Oklahoma is in the midst of a drought, and the school and town are facing economic distress. High school sports are an integral part of the town's fabric and pride, but girls' sports are an afterthought and receive little attention. The girls' team is more akin to a gym class than a basketball program. Clay is crushed by the news that the job he came for has gone to “someone more qualified”, and he sees no future in coaching the girls.

Harry (Danny Glover), an enigmatic old friend from the South, comes to visit Gideon (Paul Butler) and his wife Suzie (Mary Alice), who haven't seen him for many years, who are delighted to see him again, and who insist that he stay with them for as long as he would like. Gideon and Suzie live in South Central Los Angeles, though they retain some of their rural southern ways, including raising chickens in the backyard. Harry has a charming, down-home manner, but his presence brings to a crisis the simmering trouble that is already in the family—especially as regards the younger son, Samuel or "Baby Brother," and his relation to his parents, wife, and older brother, Junior (Carl Lumbly). His disruptive presence is dangerous (his influence threatens to break up Samuel's marriage and seems to be related to the illness that puts Gideon in bed in serious condition for a couple weeks), but ultimately purgative: Gideon's extended family is much more cohesive as a result of Harry's visit. The storm accompanying the wound Suzie suffers when she grasps the knife that Samuel and Junior are struggling over during their climactic fight clears while the two brothers quietly reconcile (during a long wait in an emergency room) and, similarly, the simmering anger that Harry seemed to bring to a boil is also dissipated. Harry's death just before the end of the film suggests, ambiguously, that he has been to a degree a self-sacrificing savior of the family.
