Caroline Thompson (born April 23, 1956) is an American novelist, screenwriter, film director, and producer. She wrote the screenplays for Tim Burton's films Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Corpse Bride. She co-wrote the story for Edward Scissorhands and recently co-adapted a new stage version of the film with director and choreographer Matthew Bourne. Recently it has been announced that she will adapt the screenplay for the film version of Wicked Lovely, a bestselling fantasy series.

Biography
En 1978, elle sort diplômée de l'Amherst College en anglais et en littérature classique. Elle emménage à Los Angeles et publie en 1983 un roman, First Born, et est contactée pour travailler sur son adaptation au cinéma. Le projet n'aboutit pas mais lui donne l'envie de devenir scénariste. Elle rencontre Tim Burton, chacun appréciant le travail de l'autre et écrit le scénario d'Edward aux mains d'argent (1990). Elle collabore à nouveau avec Burton pour L'Étrange Noël de monsieur Jack (1993) et Les Noces funèbres (2005). Elle est également coscénariste de La Famille Addams (1991) et fait ses débuts de réalisatrice avec Prince Noir (1994). En 2011, elle scénarise l'adaptation cinématographique du roman Wicked Lovely mais le projet est repoussé à une date ultérieure.Best films

In the winter, John struggles to find food for his daughter Snow White when he sheds a tear over a frozen lake and frees a creature known as the Green-Eyed One. In the midst of an unspecified catastrophe, an underground city is constructed to shelter a large group of survivors, with secret instructions to future generations in a small box timed to open 200 years later. This box is entrusted to the mayor of the City of Ember. Each mayor, in turn, passes the box on to his or her successor. Over time, the significance of the box is forgotten, and the succession is broken when the seventh mayor dies before revealing the importance of the box. The story starts in a forest called Holiday Woods with seven trees containing doors leading to towns representing various holidays: Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Halloween and the Fourth of July. Halloween Town is a fantasy world filled with citizens such as deformed monsters, ghosts, ghouls, goblins, vampires, werewolves and witches. Jack Skellington, a skeleton known as The Pumpkin King, leads them in organizing the annual Halloween holiday. However, in a monologue, Jack reveals he has grown weary of the same routine year after year, and wants something more. Wandering dejectedly in the woods, he stumbles across the seven holiday doors and accidentally opens a portal to Christmas Town, whose residents are charged with organizing the annual Christmas holiday. Impressed by the bright and cheery feeling and style of Christmas, Jack presents his findings and his understanding of Christmas, to the Halloween Town residents. However, they fail to grasp his meaning and compare everything to their ideas of Halloween, although there is one Christmas character they can relate to: the fearsome lobster-like king of Christmas Town who flies at night, named "Sandy Claws". Meanwhile, Jack who barely understands Christmas himself, obsessively tries to study the holiday but fails to grasp any further meaning of it. He ultimately decides that since he cannot understand it, he should improve it, and announces that the citizens of Halloween Town will take over Christmas this year.

Gomez Addams laments the 25-year absence of his brother Fester, who disappeared after the two had a falling-out.
