Chris McGarry (born August 19, 1966) is an American actor born in Roselle, New Jersey, known for his performance in the American television series Law & Order on NBC from 2001–2005. Some of his other television acting credits include Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, The Sopranos, The Unit, Boston Legal, Mad Men, Big Love and 24. In 2012, he had a four-episode stint as Dr. Banks in the series Awake.

Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) is upset by his team's loss to the New York Yankees in the 2001 postseason, after the Yankees overcome a 2-0 series lead. With the impending departure of star players Johnny Damon, Jason Giambi, and Jason Isringhausen to free agency, Beane needs to assemble a competitive team for 2002, but must overcome Oakland's limited payroll. During a visit to the Cleveland Indians, Beane meets Peter Brand (Jonah Hill), a young Yale economics graduate with radical ideas about how to assess players' value. Beane tests Brand's theory by asking whether he would have drafted him (out of high school), Beane having been a Major League player before becoming general manager. Though scouts considered Beane a phenomenal prospect, his career in the Major Leagues was disappointing. After some prodding, Brand admits that he would not have drafted him until the ninth round and that Beane would probably have accepted a scholarship to Stanford instead. Beane hires the inexperienced Brand to be the Athletics assistant general manager.

An American Muslim man and former Delta Force operator, Yusuf (Sheen), makes a videotape. In 1966 Jude, a young shipyard worker from Liverpool, enlists in the Merchant Navy and jumps ship in New Jersey hoping to find his American G.I. father, whom he has never met ("Girl", "Hold Me Tight", "All My Loving"). Meanwhile, Lucy Carrigan worries about her boyfriend Daniel who is headed for service in the Vietnam War, while in Dayton, Ohio, Prudence pines for a fellow female cheerleader ("I Want to Hold Your Hand"). Jude meets his father, who is a janitor at Princeton University, and befriends Lucy's brother, the privileged and rebellious student Max ("With a Little Help from My Friends").
