Christian Gasc, né en 1946 à Dunes (Tarn-et-Garonne), est un créateur de costumes français pour le cinéma, le théâtre et l'opéra.

Il a remporté quatre César des meilleurs costumes et un Molière. Il est fait Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres, distinction remise par Marie-France Pisier avec qui il a eu une très grande amitié.

Biography

Né à Dunes en Tarn-et-Garonne, rien ne disposait Christian Gasc à ce qu'il devienne créateur de costumes.

D'origine modeste, son père était mécanicien. C'est sa mère, couturière, qui lui donne, dès l'âge de huit ans, la passion du cinéma.

Le Tigre du Bengale (1959) de Fritz Lang est un de ses premiers chocs visuels. Il va découvrir le cinéma français à l'Apollo de Valence d'Agen, où il grandira, et les films interprétés par Michèle Morgan, Françoise Arnoul, Martine Carol, Micheline Presle, Marina Vlady... À quinze ans, il va sceller une amitié indéfectible avec André Téchiné, un ainé de quelques années. Amoureux du cinéma, ils montent à Paris pour essayer de vivre leur passion.

En 1877, Angèle-Marie, une jeune paysanne, est engagée comme « nourrice sur lieu » dans une famille bourgeoise, les Orcus, pour allaiter un nouveau-né, une petite fille du nom de Marcelline. Bientôt, une complicité s'installe entre la maîtresse de maison, Charlotte, et Angèle-Marie. Les deux femmes partagent des sorties dans les salons de thé et même des séances chez le photographe.
