De-Wet Nagel (born 15 June 1985) is a South African actor, musician and composer.
Biography
De-Wet was born in the city of Windhoek in the heart of Namibia. His music career started after immigrating to South Africa in 1999 while still in school where he played as session musician in various bands and projects and started writing and teaching music. He has performed and worked with many bands local and international including - The Jesse Jordan Band, Akkedis, Heather Waters, Prime Circle, Fokofpolisiekar, Chris Chameleon and boo!
In 2005 he started the successful music school Ultimate Drummers with the aim to bring Drum-kit and Electric Guitar lessons to high school students as part of their school curriculum and to accredited them with an international qualification in music which is done in affiliation with Trinity College London. After teaching for almost a decade and integrating Drum-kit and Electric Guitar in eight schools in the Western Cape (including Paarl Gimnasium and La Rochelle Girls' High School) he decided to peruse a career in acting.
His acting career started in 2010 when he started acting in short films for film students. After joining an extras agency he quickly worked his way up into featured parts in films. The first noteworthy of these being Lost Boys: The Thirst (Warner Bros) where being noticed by the director and cinematographer he was recast as a featured vampire.
In 2012 after being optioned for the roll of Jack in the short film Heartbeat De-Wet approached the director Jozua Judah with the idea of writing an original soundtrack for the film. De-Wet enlisted the help of Meryl Van Noie and together they created the soundtrack.
In 2013 De-Wet made his debut on the theatre stage portraying the character Andrew in the stage play February 14th where critics have hailed his performance as 'Sensational' stating that 'he is definitely one actor to look out for'.
