Deeba (Urdu: دیبا‎) is a Pakistani film actress. Her real name is Raheela.she was born on 1 August 1947 in Ranchi district of Bihar in India . She was one of the leading film actresses during the 1960s and 1970s, well known for her romantic and tragic roles in Urdu and Punjabi films. She started her career as an actress in Charagh jalta raha. Her performances in several films, such as Milan (1964), Aina (1966), Payal ki jhankar (1966), Sangdil (1968), Dard (1969), Sajna door diya (1970), Neend hamarey khuwab tumharey (1971), Ansoo (1971) and Perdes (1972), have won critical acclaim. She received a Nigar Best Actress award for the Punjabi film Sajna door diya in 1970. Her smiling face and innocent look have given rise to the description "Pakistani Mona Lisa"

Deeba married camera man Naeem Rizvi in 1971 and left silver-screen for 10 years. However, financial hardships made her join film industry again in 1987 as character actress.

The story begins when Afghanistan was invaded from the north by the former Soviet Union in 1979 and large number of Afghan refugees began crossing over into Pakistan. One such caravan brings Saima to this land of political unrest. Deeba Begum plays Shaan's mother, and Saima is his fiancée. In the war ravages, Deeba and Saima are lost to Shaan, and come to Pakistan. They camp in a small town, which is on the Pak-Afghan border, the tribal chief of which used to frequent their town once, and his son, Moammar Rana falls in love with Saima. Meanwhile, the war is halted and Shaan, the true fiancé, comes to this shantytown looking for his mother and his fiancé. You can well imagine what transpires after that. The Afghan war pales in front of the weaponry and ferocity that is witnessed between Mommy Rana and Shaan, after that.

The film is a tragedy based on a tawaif (courtesan) 'Anjuman' played by Rani, who is a "tawaiif" who flirts with the emotions of a wealthy Santosh Kumar and later falls in love with his younger brother played by Waheed Murad. In order to save his older brother's marriage Waheed's character decides to frequent Anjuman's "kotha" in an "exchange" demanded by Anjuman, although being in love with another girl (played by Deeba). Sabiha plays the role of wife of the older brother's character in the film, and eventually implores Anjuman to forsake her own love so that Waheed's Character can live happily. At the end, Anjuman (Rani) has to face a fate worse than death, where she is invited to sing at the wedding of her Love. Lovelorn and disappointed Anjuman offers a woeful song, as she has swallowed poison, and dies at the feet of her love.
