Emil Hasler (né le 8 novembre 1901 à Berlin, mort le 15 janvier 1986 dans la même ville) est un chef décorateur allemand.

Biography

Après avoir quitté l'école, Emil Hasler fait une formation de peintre et de décorateur de théâtre à la Königliche Kunstschule zu Berlin. Il vient dans le cinéma en 1929 et devient assistant décorateur.

De 1927 à 1933, il est le chef décorateur de grandes productions de films allemands. Avec Karl Vollbrecht et Otto Hunte, il fait les décors des films de Fritz Lang, La Femme sur la Lune, M le maudit et Le Testament du docteur Mabuse. Il conçoit avec Hunte les scènes de L'Ange bleu de Josef von Sternberg et avec Ernő Metzner, il travaille pour Le Journal d'une fille perdue de Georg Wilhelm Pabst.

Après 1933, son travail est bien plus important. Il fait son premier film en couleurs, Les Aventures fantastiques du baron Münchhausen, sorti en 1943. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il travaille un temps pour la DEFA. Il travaille en Allemagne de l'Ouest jusque dans les années 1960 et pour la télévision de 1962 à 1968.

Peter, a woodsman and his mother live in the Black Forest where he exists by selling charcoal. Stung by the ridicule of the wealthier inhabitants of the village and desiring to marry the beautiful Lisbeth, he sees his only chance for prosperity by locating a good forest spirit, the small Glasmännlein who grants him two wishes at first, then a third wish later. At 1884, Guste is born as the illegitimate daughter of a maid. She marries a worker named Paul; her mistress gives her a set of common, checkered mattresses as a wedding gift. During the First World War, Paul is called to the front, and she remains alone with their children and works in a munitions factory. When she realizes how the capital of the great industry magnates had caused the war in the first place, Guste resigns and begins cleaning houses for a living. When the Nazis take over, Paul is fired from his job for being a trade-unionist, and dies. At the Second World War, their children are killed in a bombing. Gusta's granddaughter, Christel, is the only family she has now. After the war, as Christel is about to attend university - the first member of the family to have ever done so - her grandmother sews her a new dress from the old mattresses and tells her to always fight for peace and freedom.
