Frank Brandon Nelson (May 6, 1911 – September 12, 1986) was an American comedic actor best known for playing put-upon foils on radio and television and his "EEE-Yeeeeeeeeesssss?" catchphrase. He made numerous guest appearances on television shows, including The Jack Benny Program, I Love Lucy, The Real McCoys, and Sanford and Son. Over the length of his career, he made more than 10,000 television appearances.

Puff finds a young boy named Terry who has an overactive imagination, and who therefore has trouble making friends with other children, instead having an imaginary friend - a duck wearing a saucepan as a hat named Mr. Nobody. When Terry's imagination starts to get him in trouble, he begins to blame Nobody for imagining the things that Terry has dreamed up, until Terry ceases to believe that he has any imagination of his own. Eventually, Mr. Nobody abandons him and Puff must take Terry on a quest to find Nobody, teaching him along the way to embrace his creativity.

Spanky (Philip Tanzini) and Porky (Robby Kiger)'s mother (Darla Hood) is a single mother during the Depression. Money is tight with very little left over to buy anything nice. When the boys overhear Mom talking on the phone about a Blue Comet, they think she is ordering for them the Blue Comet train set for the holidays. However, Mom wasn't talking about the train, but rather a vacuum cleaner. Realizing that she confused her sons, she exchanges a coat she had ordered for the train. When she gets sick and the boys realize the truth, they enlist the help of the gang to raise the money to get the coat back. Meanwhile, two neighborhood bullies steal the train set so now there are no gifts for the boys or their mom. A grouchy Santa (Jack Somack) arrives to spread cheer.

The mouse and his child are two parts of a single small wind-up toy, which must be wound up by means of a key in the father's back. After having been unpacked, they discover themselves in a toy shop where they befriend a toy elephant and toy seal. The child mouse proposes staying at the shop to form a family, which the other toys ridicule. After breaking due to a fall from the counter, they are thrown in the trash. Outside, they become enslaved by Manny the rat, who runs a casino in the city dump and uses broken wind-up toys as his slave labor force. With the aid of a psychic frog, the mice escape and meet various animal characters on a quest of becoming free and independent self-winding toys. They rediscover the elephant and seal, who are somewhat broken down. Together they manage to form a family and destroy the rat empire.
