Throughout his career he has been able to play various and versatile characters. He began on the television series King of Kensington and went on to host the TV series Polka Dot Door. He portrayed Sam Ramone in the television series Ready or Not. Other significant roles include Uncle Taki in My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Dominic in Kung Fu: The Legend Continues.

An Indian doctor emigrates to Canada in the hope of starting a new life, but bureaucracy confines him to life as a taxi driver. Predatory lenders Simone and Eddie awaken on either side of a room split by a cage containing a scale, wearing head harnesses with screws poised to pierce their temples. They learn via videotape that the one who sets more flesh weight on their tray will survive. Eddie cuts fat from his torso, but Simone chops off her arm, which tilts the scale in her favor; the timer expires, and Eddie is killed by the screws. While he reviews the game's footage, Detective Lt. Mark Hoffman is called to the scene by FBI Agent Dan Erickson, who found Agent Peter Strahm's fingerprints around the room. Also present is Agent Lindsey Perez, whose survival was covered up by Erickson for her protection. They learn from Dr. Adam Heffner, who performed all of the autopsies for the Jigsaw case, that the knife used to cut the jigsaw piece from Eddie's flesh was only used on Seth Baxter before then. The agents intend to find the Baxter videotape to prove Strahm's involvement.

During the film's opening credits, two bookies are separately ambushed and murdered by their unseen killers, and, elsewhere, a young man is killed by a sniper. In a bus terminal, a young man is approached by Goodkat (Bruce Willis), who tells the story of Max and the Kansas City Shuffle: two decades earlier, Max borrowed money from the mob to bet on a fixed horse race, only for the horse to die mid-race. To set an example to make sure nobody else would try to bet on a fixed race, the mob killed Max, his wife and young son Henry. Goodkat concludes that a "Kansas City Shuffle" is a misleading double bluff, and so tricks and kills the young man, before loading his body into a truck.

Single mother Jean (Heather Locklear) relocates every time she gets her heart broken by another guy, much to the dismay of her teenage daughter, Holly (Hilary Duff). Holly devises a plan to invent a secret admirer for her mother, so she'll be happy and not have to relocate anymore. Holly overhears her friend Amy's (Vanessa Lengies) uncle Ben (Chris Noth) ordering flowers for a woman, and decides to use his advice on women (which she acquires by telling him she needs help for a school project on romance). Following Ben's advice, she sends her mother orchids and other gifts and love notes, and is soon communicating with her mother as this fictitious admirer (who Holly names Ben) via the internet. As her mother becomes more interested, Holly has to find a photo of this admirer. She sends one of the real Ben, and then devises a reason why they can't meet in person, claiming he is working in China.
