Helene Udy (born Albuquerque, New Mexico, November 1, 1962) is an American actress and director. She is perhaps best known for her role as Myra Bing on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.
Udy is the daughter of Mya Pilpoul, a former military officer, and Dr. John Udy, a city planner, university professor, painter and upright bass player. She is the sister of Claudia Udy. She was raised in Montreal, Canada. Udy began her career as a child actor in Canadian movies and television shows. She graduated from Westmount High School in 1977. After studying at Dome Theater school in Montreal, she pursued a degree in film communications at Montreal's Dawson College while continuing her acting career in Canadian movies before moving to New York in 1983 for work on the soap opera As the World Turns in the role of Frannie. She played Pel in "Rules of Acquisition" (an episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) and is known for her roles in My Bloody Valentine, Dead Zone, Pin and Katie Bird Certifiable Crazy Person, among others.
Now based in Los Angeles, Udy has combined acting with stage production and directing, winning several Backstage West Awards for the play Out in America by Canadian playwright Katie Ford. She also won the first Hollywood Fringe Festival award (2010) for best musical for Rehab: The Musical, written by fellow Canadian Patrick Gelinas. She was a series regular in role of Myra Bing on the CBS series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. She has also been involved in the producing of feature films.
Udy will be appearing in Manos: The Search for Valley Lodge, the upcoming 2013 sequel to the cult movie Manos: The Hands of Fate.
