Jack Pierce (born Janus Piccoula; May 5, 1889 – July 19, 1968) was a Hollywood makeup artist most famous for creating the iconic makeup worn by Boris Karloff in Universal Studios' 1931 adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, along with various other classic monster make-ups for Universal Studios.

The Earth is suffering the aftereffects of a nuclear war that destroyed 92 percent of humanity. Lingering radiation has caused the birth rate to fall below replacement level and the population continues to decline. A robotic labor force maintains a high standard of living for the survivors and the humanoids of the title are an advanced type of robot created to directly serve and otherwise work closely with human beings. These humanoids are built with artificial, ultra-logical personalities and they appear human except for their blue-gray "synthe-skin", metallic eyes and lack of hair. The humanoids periodically visit recharging stations they call "temples" where they also exchange all information acquired since their last visit with a central computer they call "the father-mother".

U.S. Air Force test pilot Major Bill Allison flies an experimental aircraft to sub-orbital spaceflight successfully, though losing radio contact in flight. Two lovers, Wayne Brooks and Janet Cleveland, with the help of scientist Dr. Frederick Cleveland reveal and prove the theory of suspended animation when they find a frozen lizard in a mountain rock. But Dr. Cleveland has another passion: writing a book about Spanish Conquistadors who came to the region. The book targets the history of a legendary giant Conquistador named Vargas whose remains Cleveland and the two lovers search for in an archeological dig containing ancient armor and weapons. Later that night, a lightning strike revives the body of the 500-year-old Vargas, who stalks the three searchers and eventually kills a young woman. Sheriff Parker, the town Sheriff accuses and arrests Wayne for the murder of the young woman because a medallion from the search was found in the girl's hand. But later, it is revealed that Vargas is roaming around the forest causing another brutal death. The local town men, with the help of the three searchers and the sheriff go out to find and kill the giant, which causes more damage and deaths. Wayne finally kills the giant by causing him to fall off a bridge and into a waterfall.

Robert Kraft (Richard Boone) is the newly appointed chairman of a committee that oversees a large cemetery. The cemetery caretaker, Andy MacKee (Theodore Bikel), keeps a map in the cemetery office displaying the grounds and each grave site. Filled graves are marked by black pins and unoccupied but sold graves are marked with white pins. New to the position and unobservant, Kraft accidentally places a pair of black pins where they don't belong, only to discover later that the young couple who had bought the grave sites in question died in an automobile accident soon afterwards. He believes that he marked them for death.

Surpris de détecter une radioactivité anormale en provenance des montagnes de la mort deux jeunes chercheurs, Steve et Dan se rendent sur place. Ils ne tardent pas à découvrir un extraterrestre très évolué nommé Gor. Celui-ci tue Dan et s'empare du cerveau de Steve. Il dévoile alors ses intentions : dominer la Terre entière. Vol, un autre extraterrestre cherche à le traquer, pour cela il obtient la complicité de Sally, la fiancée de Steve, du père de celle-ci et du chien George dont il contrôle le cerveau. Steve fait la démonstration de son pouvoir, destruction d'avion, destruction d'un site devant une assemblée de militaires médusés, puis convocation des représentants des principales puissances terrestres. Il n'existe qu'un seul moyen de neutraliser Gor, s'attaquer à sa fissure de Rolando, dans son cerveau pendant les rares moments où il quitte l'esprit de Steve pour se ressourcer en oxygène.

Unlike the play Joan of Lorraine, which is a drama that shows how the story of Joan affects a group of actors who are performing it, the film is a straightforward recounting of the life of the French heroine. It begins with an obviously painted shot of the inside of a basilica with a shaft of light, possibly descending from heaven, shining down from the ceiling, and a solemn off-screen voice pronouncing the canonization of the Maid of Orleans. Then, the opening page of what appears to be a church manuscript recounting Joan's life in Latin is shown on the screen, while some uncredited voiceover narration by actor Shepperd Strudwick sets up the tale. The actual story of Joan then begins, from the time she becomes convinced that she has been divinely called to save France to her being burnt at the stake at the hands of the English and the Burgundians.

After serving in Europe during World War II, Herbie Brown (Lou Costello) and Slicker Smith (Bud Abbott) return to the United States aboard a troop ship. Also onboard is their old nemesis, Sgt. Collins (Nat Pendleton). As the ship nears New York, Collins and his superiors search the men's belongings for contraband. A six-year-old French orphan, Evey (Beverly Simmons), whom Herbie and Slicker befriended, is found in Herbie's duffle bag. She is handed over to Lt. Sylvia Hunter (Joan Fulton), who delivers her to immigration officials in New York. However, during a shift change at the office, Evey is mistaken for a neighborhood kid and set free. Meanwhile, Herbie and Slicker are back to their pre-war occupation of peddling ties in Times Square. Collins is also back at his old job--a police officer assigned to the same beat. He is about to arrest the boys when Evey shows up and helps them escape.
