Jeffrey Konvitz (born 1944 in New York) is an American writer and film producer. He was educated at Cornell and the Columbia University School of Law. He is probably best known for writing the novel The Sentinel, published in 1974. It was followed by a film adaptation in 1977, which he produced and adapted from the novel.
He married Vicki Peters in 1980, but they were divorced after parenting one child, Kristen Nicole (1983). Later, he married Jillian McWhirter in 1998 (the two are still married) and fathered a second child with her, Katherine Arielle (2002).

Chaos reigns in the Catskills when Kavell and Bergman, two college students who spend their summers working in the dining hall at Camp Oskemo, an upstate New York summer camp where they're the senior waiters, return. Serving food to bratty children doesn't interest them nearly as much as trying to make it with the female counselors at the camp, among them the pretty but chaste Vicki and the beautiful and sexually liberated Evie. Kavell and Bergman also wage an annual war against the junior waiters with the help of deranged server Mad Grossman, but their real nemesis is Walrus Wallman, the camp owner who makes no secret of his dislike for the waiters. Over the course of one eventful summer, Kavell, Bergman, and their fellow food slingers dose the entire camp with amphetamines, taint the Kosher meals with pork, screen pornographic films during Parent's Weekend, run a tank through the campgrounds, and destroy the waiter's housing and most of what surrounds it.

Alison Parker, a beautiful but severely neurotic fashion model (Raines) moves into a gorgeous Brooklyn brownstone house that has been divided into apartments. The house is inhabited on the top floor by Father Halliran (John Carradine), a reclusive blind priest who spends all of his time sitting at his open window. Alison begins having strange physical problems, including insomnia, and has some terrifying flashbacks of her attempted suicide. In the year 2074, the cybernetics market is dominated by two rival companies: USA's Pinwheel Robotics and Japan's Kobayashi Electronics. Cyborgs are commonplace, used for anything from soldiers to prostitutes. Casella "Cash" Reese (Jolie) is a prototype cyborg developed for corporate espionage and assassination. She is filled with a liquid explosive called "Glass Shadow". Pinwheel plans to eliminate the entire Kobayashi board of directors using Casella to precipitate a hostile takeover and obtain a monopoly over the cyborg market. She is programmed to mimic human senses and emotions such as fear, love, pain and hate. Guided by Mercy (Palance), a renegade prototype cyborg who can communicate through any electronic device, she and her combat trainer Colton Ricks (Koteas) escape the Pinwheel facility so she can avoid self-destruction, something that most corporate espionage cyborgs face.
