Vinayagam (Ajith) is a brave person living in a village called Oddanchatram, who lives with his four brothers Murugan (Bala), Shanmugam (Vidharth), Kumaran (Suhail) and Senthil (Munish). The elder brother loves the younger ones to the core, and sacrifices his happiness for their good. They are often caught in fights and they are proud of it. Advocate Bail Perumal (Santhanam), who bails them out whenever legal issues arise because of their brawls. Vinayagam hates the idea of marriage as he feels that his wife might create disharmony among brothers. Though the four younger brothers say that they don't want to either fall in love or get married, when Vinayagam is not around, they all have their secret lovers. Now, in order to get the green light for their love stories, they learn through his brother's childhood friend Collector Subbu (Ramesh Kanna) that Vinayakam, in school, was in love with a girl named Koppuram Devi (fondly called Kopu) and his brothers hatch a plan to find her and reintroduce her to Vinayakam, so he can fall for her all over again. But she's married now and has kids. So the brothers conspire to do the most logical thing, which is to find another woman named Koppuram Devi (fondly called Kopu), because, you see, Vinayakam was not in love with that girl so much as her name, and when he meets another (completely random) girl with that name, he is sure to lose his heart to her, just because she bears that name. Though initially reluctant later Vinayakam himself falls in love with her. He clashes with a goon called Vanangamudi (Pradeep Rawat) to take care of market in the village. Vanangamudi tries to kill Vinayagam's brothers while Vinayagam kidnaps Vanangamudi's son (Amit Kumar Tiwari) after clashing, Vinayagam orders Vanangamudi to leave this village.

Azhagu and Mike are thick friends and go lucky,jobless youths who just roam around doing nothing.They meet Priya in a train while trying to escape from a few goons who were chasing them for a reason. Initially they take Priya for a prostitute but later understand that she is actually a doctor. Azhagu falls for her immediately and decides that he should become an Engineer, so that he can marry Priya the Doctor. Priya is saved by Azhagu from a man who tries to kill her. Azhagu then listens to her story. Priya had a friend Kalpana,who was from a village where Priya went for a medical camp.There she learns that the people of that village are affected by potential cancer and other effects due to the Steel factory owned by Selva Vinayagam. Priya enters the company with the help of kalpana,who works there. Priya gathers proofs and talks with Selva to provide Safety equipments to the workers so that no one gets affected further. But selva denies and insults Priya, who leaves the place. Back in the factory, Kalpana operates a costly machine and unfortunately gets her hand stuck in it, resulting in huge blood loss. Priya begs the owners to dismantle the machine, so that kalpana can be saved, but the owners are reluctant and Kalpana dies as a result. Hence Priya decides to sue the company and files a case against them. The case is being heard the next day and if Priya makes it to the Court, the company will lose the case. So she is being targeted by Selva's men . How Azhagu and Mike help Priya escape the goons and Whether they help her to win the case forms the rest of the story.

Bergmans (Arjun), a brilliant but unruly student, is thrown out of his seminary for committing the sin of the flesh after being caught red-handed by fellow student Sam Fernando (Arvind Swamy). The film begins with a scene happening in a corn field in south India, where A British Forest Ranger who is in charge of the fields is being alerted by some strange noises coming form deep inside the fields. He sets out with his dog and searches for the source of this strange noise, then suddenly the dog is being dragged inside and brutally killed by an unknown beast creature. Then the ranger is also dragged inside and killed by the creature. Then the plot shifts to the 1970s where a college (sir arthur wellington college) farewell party is taking place. Two friends Amudhan and Vendhan (the son of the college watchman), decide to stay back in the college hostel and spend the vacation there. This is mainly because Amudhan's Girlfriend Poongavanm lives in the nearby village of poomanandhipuram, so that he can't miss her during this vacation. The only thing that lies between the college and the village is the same corn field (now protected by a big wall), that is believed to be the hunting ground of the strange creature, that the people now call Ambuli. Though some people called it a myth, many believed that ambuli did exist. One night, despite warnings from Vendhan, Amudhan decides to go through the corn field to reach poomanandhipuram to meet Poongavanam. He makes the first trip successfully, but while he returns, he hears the same strange noise and is been chased and thrown off his cycle by Ambuli (which is not yet shown on screen). Amudhan runs for life and reaches the college, where he meets Vendhan and narrates him what happened and says to him that Ambuli is real. Vendhan is little convinced by Amudhan's narration and they both decide to visit the corn field together that night to see what really is happening. They both travel the entire field and reach one corner and find a wood house (the place where the British ranger once lived), and they meet Sengodan there. Sengodan guards the fields but his looks cause a little bit of suspicion to the boys that he might be the ambuli. But Sengoden does not harm them and the boys fled the place.

15 years after an accident in which Bala's parents both died, Bala returns with wife, Revathi, and son, Anand, to his hometown. They decide to stay a couple of nights in the massive house that he grew up in. As he spends a few days in the house and recalls his memories, Anand- who has a disability to speak- sees movement around the house. But he cannot tell anyone what he witnesses. Soon Revathi who suffers from claustrophobia, deduces poltergeist activity in the house and so tells Bala that they have to go back to Chennai. Anand enjoys being in the presence of the ghosts and doesn't find any problem. Problems come up between the couple that they had never thought of when they had love marriage. Soon Revathi discovers that they did not come on holiday but in fact, came to escape some rowdies that Bala owes money to. This is when Bala's classmate and business partner, Jeeva, arrives to stay with them. His company had borrowed 40 lakhs from a rowdy and over the months it had increased to 50 lakhs but he is unable to pay back any money as his agent, who was supposed to give him 2 crores, runs away and is nowhere to be found. With the help of ghosts, Bala and his family find a way to escape from being kept under house arrest. Bala's partner who has been jealous of him had the money the whole time to pay the rowdies.

Deva (Suriya) arrives at the Chennai International Airport after running an errand for Arumuga Dass (Prabhu Ganesan) of smuggling pre-release pirated movies on DVD. The two leave for their hideout and instruct Dilli (Karunas), a hearing-impaired assistant of Dass, to make copies of the DVD. Just when police crews arrive into their vicinity, Dass informs Deva and the rest to leave. Deva tells the others to leave while he quickly sets up the burning process. Deva also leaves the hideout just in time. However, the police officers arrive at the hideout, only to see the burning process of the DVDs complete. The police then seize the DVDs and computers. The inspector, who was a friend of Dass, tells him that he can close the case if one of Dass's men agrees to the crime. Deva attempts to go, but another man, Chitti (Jagan), who had no affiliation to them volunteers, takes the blame. Later, Chitti joins Dass's group.

Marudhamalai (Arjun), a police constable, goes to work in the village of Nachiapuram after passing his police exams and getting a merit. He is asked to do all sorts of work for him and one day, Marudhamalai loses a convict on the way to the court due to Ekambaran's soft heart. Then, later in the market, after Ekambaram is humiliated by a beggar, Marudhamalai sees Maasi, the 'boss' of the city, killing a person who stood for a candidate in the elections. Then the election commissioner comes to the place and he discovers that elections have not been held for 16 years in the city due to Maasi's opposition.

Ganesh (Narain) is the slum boy who drives an auto to support his family. Bhuvana is the neglected daughter of a rich man and is in search of true love. Bhuvana (Deepa) is drawn to Ganesh's honesty and good heart. Bhuvana tells him that she will show him she can do it and comes to Ganesh's house with just the clothes on her self. As Bhuvana and Ganesh share a happy love and understanding, life is all roses till a storm disrupts their happiness. Bhuvana meets with an accident and fights for her life. Doctors say nothing but a heart transplant could save her. The hero has no money for the operation. Ganesh is unable to bear the thought of a life without Bhuvana.
