Kathryn Adams Doty, born Kathryn Elizabeth Hohn (born July 15, 1920), is a retired American actress. Born in New Ulm, Minnesota, she competed in 1939 in the national finals of the Jesse L. Lasky radio contest, "Gateway to Hollywood", then remained in California to begin a film career under the name of Kathryn Adams. One of her most notable roles was as "Mrs. Brown", the young mother in Alfred Hitchcock's Saboteur (1942).
A Long Year of Silence, set in New Ulm, Minnesota, during World War I, was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award and winner of the 2005 Midwest Book Award. A third book, Becoming the Mother of Me, described her life growing up as a minister's daughter and her trip to Hollywood and her first marriage.

Biography
She married fellow actor Hugh Beaumont in 1942, with whom she had three children: Hunter, Kristy, and Mark. She later earned a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology and had a career as a psychologist. After divorcing Beaumont in 1974, she married Fred Doty, and relocated to her native Minnesota. Fred died on January 8, 2011. Kathryn wrote two novels: A Long Year of Silence and Wild Orphan.A Long Year of Silence, set in New Ulm, Minnesota, during World War I, was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award and winner of the 2005 Midwest Book Award. A third book, Becoming the Mother of Me, described her life growing up as a minister's daughter and her trip to Hollywood and her first marriage.

During World War II, aircraft factory worker Barry Kane (Robert Cummings) is accused of starting a fire at the Stewart Aircraft Works in Glendale, California, an act of sabotage that killed his friend Mason (Virgil Summers). Kane believes the real culprit is a man named Fry (Norman Lloyd) who, during their efforts to put out the fire, handed him a fire extinguisher filled with gasoline, that he passed on to Mason. When the investigators find no one named "Fry" on the list of plant workers, they assume Kane is guilty.

Former World War I ace pilot Captain Bob Dayton, (Donald Woods) is the owner of Sky Raiders, Inc., an aircraft factory. He has designed a new high speed fighter aircraft, the Sky Raider and bombsight. Nazi agent Felix Lynx (Eduardo Ciannelli) attempts to steal these designs for his own country. Buzz Blackwell, Fred Johnson and Axel Swenson are construction workers who are building a bridge. They are good friends and Buzz and Axel even help Fred raising his daughter Patricia. When Fred tragically dies in a fatal accident, Patricia is forced to live with her relatives in New York City whom she has never met. Buzz and Axel decide to depart with her. They soon arrive at her uncle and aunt Jarvis and Brenda, who are horrible persons. Jarvis is a snobby rich man, while Brenda is supercilious. Jarvis has received a letter from Buzz, warning him for their arrival and wants no part in raising Patricia. As they show up, Jarvis pretends to be someone else and sends them to the other "J. Johnson". This is Joe, Patricia's great uncle and husband of Marian. They are poor ex-vaudevillans but welcome them with open arms. Buzz wants to give Joe Fred's money he left him for Patricia, but finds out a drunken Axel used that money to buy a Swedish restaurant. This restaurant, which is doomed to fail, is now the only money bringer for the Johnsons. Buzz is determined to help them out and turns the restaurant in a night club, but is bothered with Jarvis, he has returned to claim "his" money back.

The film opens in 1482 with King Louis XI and his close advisor, Frollo, the King's Chief Justice of Paris, in a printing shop. Frollo is determined to do everything in his power to rid Paris of anything he sees as evil, including the printing press and gypsies, who at the time are persecuted and prohibited from entering Paris. That day is Paris' annual celebration, the Festival of Fools. Esmeralda, a young gypsy girl, is seen dancing in front of an audience of people, including the King and Frollo.
