Larry Fong is an American cinematographer born in Los Angeles, California. He showed interest and talent in art at a young age. His experience in photography and film was self-taught, beginning in junior high with short films shot on Super 8, cel animation, and stop motion projects. He graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Linguistics and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, specializing in film and photography.
He began his professional career filming music videos, and garnered enough attention to result in him filming two independent films and various TV pilots, commercials, and shorts.
In 2004 he was hired to film the Lost pilot, for which he was nominated for an ASC Award.
2007 saw the release of his first studio film, 300, directed by Zack Snyder.
In 2011 he was accepted into the American Society of Cinematographers.
He is an accomplished magician.

Ses parents sont tous deux d'origine chinoise. Il s'intéresse à la photographie et à la prise de vues dès le lycée, réalisant des films amateurs en super 8. Il entre ensuite à UCLA mais n'est pas admis dans le programme d'arts visuels et obtient un diplôme en linguistique. Quelques années plus tard, il intègre l'Art Center College of Design de Pasadena où il rencontre Zack Snyder et Tarsem Singh. Après son diplôme, il travaille comme directeur de la photographie sur des clips musicaux (dont celui de Losing My Religion), puis pour des spots publicitaires et des films indépendants. Il acquiert la renommée pour son travail sur plusieurs épisodes de la saison 1 de Lost : Les Disparus. Il collabore ensuite régulièrement sur les films réalisés par Zack Snyder. C'est également un prestidigitateur accompli.
