Ludovico Einaudi OMRI ([ludoˈviːko eiˈnaudi]) (born 23 November 1955) is an Italian pianist and composer. After training at the Conservatorio Verdi in Milan and under composer Luciano Berio in the early 1980s, Einaudi started his career as a classical composer and soon began incorporating other styles and genres, including pop, rock, world music, and folk music.
Einaudi composed the scores for a number of films and trailers, including The Intouchables, I'm Still Here, Doctor Zhivago, and Acquario in 1996, for which he won the Grolla d'oro for best soundtrack. He has also released a number of solo albums of piano and orchestra, notably I Giorni in 2001, Nightbook in 2009, and In a Time Lapse in 2013.

Based on a true story, the film chronicles the relationship of a teacher with teenagers who have long since dropped out of the school system. Moretti is a director in crisis and would like to make a musical film that speaks to the history of a pastry in the Cold War. However, each time he starts to develop the project, Moretti leaves the Institute to devote himself to meditation. In fact there is something in the Italy of his day that afflicts him: the demonic presence in Italy of Silvio Berlusconi and his corrupt colleagues (including Emilio Fede in the TV news) in the government. Moretti, a Communist Party, would like a jolt did topple the government of Berlusconi, but to no avail. After a few days he really wants to make a movie about all the misdeeds of the Prime Minister, but his plans are thwarted by the birth of his child, to whom he devotes himself with an obsessive love. Not knowing what to do, as he seriously risking to fail as a film director, Moretti takes up the idea of the film on the pastry singer.

The film opens in 1919, just after World War I has ended. Joshua Connor (Russell Crowe), an Australian farmer and water diviner, has located ground water on his land and is digging a well. Upon emerging from the well, he jests with his dog that his hunch about finding water was correct. Joshua returns home to find his wife, Eliza (Jacqueline McKenzie), mending boots that she says one of their sons had damaged. She asks him to read a story to their three boys and, although tired, he agrees. As Joshua reads Arabian Nights, we see that their sons' beds are empty. Joshua's three sons Arthur (Ryan Corr), Edward (James Fraser), and Henry (Ben O'Toole) served with the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) at the Battle of Gallipoli four years previously and are presumed dead. Eliza, unable to cope with her grief, commits suicide. Joshua resolves to bring his sons' bodies home and bury them with their mother.
