Erika Pluhar is the daughter of Anna and Dr Josef Pluhar. One of her sisters, Ingeborg G. Pluhar, is a painter and sculptor.
After finishing school in 1957, Erika Pluhar studied at the Max Reinhardt Seminar, the Viennese academy for music and the performing arts where she graduated with distinction in 1959. She immediately went into acting at the Burgtheater, the imperial court theatre, where she was a member of the acting troupe from 1959 until 1999.
At the beginning of the 1970s Erika Pluhar embarked on a singing career. She has been writing books since her childhood; her first book was published in 1981.
Erika Pluhar has been married twice (with Udo Proksch, businessman and convict of the murder of six people, and André Heller, poet and all-rounder artist) and has had a daughter, Anna (1961–1999).

A Prussian officer (David Bowie) returns home to Berlin following the end of the Great War. Unable to find employment elsewhere, he works as a gigolo in a brothel run by the Baroness (Marlene Dietrich). He is eventually killed in street fighting between Nazis and Communists. Both sides claim his body but the Nazis succeed in capturing it and bury him with honours, "a hero to a cause he did not support".

A goalkeeper is sent off during a game for dissent. He spends the night with a cinema cashier, whom he afterwards kills. Although a type of detective film, it is more slow moving and contemplative than other films of the genre. Quelque part dans la campagne près de Wilhelmshaven. Le médecin de campagne Rudolf Fachmin est marié en deuxième noce à Rachel, beaucoup plus jeune. Du premier mariage, il a eu Frank, son fils déjà adulte, qui a à peu près l'âge de sa femme. Ils ont une liaison. Pour Frank, ce n'est pas seulement par désir sexuel, mais c'est aussi un acte de vengeance tardive envers le géniteur. Il accuse son père d'avoir trop vite remplacée la première femme vite abandonnée au début par une nouvelle, à savoir Rachel. Rachel a aussi un enfant, Roman. Le jeune garçon de neuf ans est tout sauf enthousiaste face à la situation générale et, poussé par l'amour maternel œdipien, tente d'assassiner le concurrent présumé Frank, en jetant un objet branché dans la baignoire. Mais au lieu de Frank, qui avait l'intention d'avoir un rapport avec Rachel dans l'eau du bain, c'est Rachel qui est électrocutée. Elle devient paralysée et doit désormais vivre en fauteuil roulant. Rudolf Fachmin a mis de côté son métier de médecin et veille jalousement sur les activités de son fils et de la deuxième épouse. Alors qu'il a gagné sa confiance, il rejette son fils Frank.
