Après une longue cure de désintoxication, l'agent Kessel retrouve les rangs de la police. Diller, son acolyte depuis des lustres, l'entraîne pour une planque devant un restaurant du coin. Il s'agit de débusquer un criminel de guerre de lybien. Mais Kessel se laisse déconcentrer par une scène à l'extérieur : il a aperçu un dealer sur un terrain de basket, tout près, et compte en profiter pour récupérer un peu de drogue. Son collègue l'en empêche à temps et parvient à le faire remonter au volant de sa voiture de service. Mais Kessel, qui démarre à toute vitesse, renverse un piéton. Diller ne sait pas s'il doit aider son ami ou le dénoncer.
